The UFC isn't a league, it's not made up of 30-32 owners competitive against each other whilst sharing revenue + individual revenue streams. So you can't really compare straight up salaries -- average UFC fighter probably makes more per minute of competition per year than any player of the 4 major sports.

Revenue share is less in the UFC but they don't have 30 different owners splitting costs nor do individual teams have to carry the burden of full operational cost to run the business.

It is true that anyone training in those arts is getting valuable experience that is leveragable for mma. A boxer, a wrestler, a judoka, bjj practitioner.
