Also belated lol at the people that scored this a 6 and below. I think superhero movies aren't your thing.

What about people who voted 10? I think 10 should mean perfection. What if Avengers 4 is better for those people? What rating would that make it?

One final point... with regards to the post credits stinger in which we see Fury's hail mary pager message being delivered to what is presumably Captain Marvel, I must be honest and say I don't know jack about her. I'm hearing that she will have a big role to play in the IW sequel but just how powerful is she? What sort of power level is she in the comics and with Thanos now wielding the gauntlet and full set of stones will she be in need of a power up from her comic book incarnation to be a serious contender finale?
No one really knows until her solo movie is released in March of next year. It takes place 20 years or more in the past, and will have Nick Fury, Agent Coulson, and Ronan the Accuser in it, as well as introduce the Kree / Skrull wars (Ronan is a Kree). In the comics the original Captain Marvel was a Kree warrior named Mar-Vell. Somehow the lady Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers) got her DNA infused with his (giggity) and that's how she got her powers. Mar-Vell is in the upcoming movie played by Jude Law.

Mar-Vell has past conflict with Thanos in the comics, so I assume they will use some of that. I think what Carol will bring to the table will be Kree power / tech that can control or counter the gems somehow.

Kick Ass!

I rated it a ten. I'm generally high on these movies, but this was the first one I gave a 10. An enthusiastic 10. I don't see how they top this but if they do I will Ask @Dragonlordxxxxx for an 11 rating :D

But in all seriousness if A4 is as good then it will get a 10 from me as well.

It'll beat Wonder Woman imo. Could even be a $billion earner.
Wouldn't be at all surprised. These movies have gotten so big even the most optimistic projections probably have to be revised. Multiple billion+ grossing movies in a single calendar year

Strange is a fucking saint. First he lets Dormammu kill him god knows how many times, then he sees his own death and decides to go through with it.
While Dr Strange is awesome, he actually picked the singular path that gives him (and the others) a chance at life and winning in the end.

Yeah someone earlier said they should hit $4 billion this years with Antman and the Wasp. When I first read that I thought that poster was getting ahead of himself, but then I remembered that Black Panther already hit 1.3 billion, and Infinity War should make it to 2 billion, so Antman only needs to break 700m which I expect it to.

It's so crazy, BP making over a billion just had to beat their projections. Disney execs like:

Not talking about the movie. Talking about real life people only going to it because of race
Still not racist if indeed you can determine that is the ONLY reason they went. I know italians who got up to go see the Godfather despite never going to a theatre prior. Same for Scottish and Braveheart. I think you can probably find movies of an aspect of each culture (fictional or real) that attracts people across the board but particularly for people reflected in that culture.

So again if you are going to scream racist about the extra people seeing the GodFather or Braveheart and those aspects within white culture then I think the word loses all meaning.

I assume most people are predicting Dr. Strange will arrive from the future to talk to Cap Marvel, probably sitting in the air the way he did in Infinity War, and will explain some key point to her. Maybe after the end credits.

Good theory. What if he had done that before thanos teleporting to titan. So pretty much the cap marvel we have now, has already been visited by strange back in the 90s to be warned.

I can see mcu pulling a paradox on us. Some interstellar stuff.

Stopped reading after i dont understand about black culture.

Thats a dumb statement on many levels. Not all blacks are the same and dont go through the same things.

Weird how my wifes black my kids are black. My best friend in the whole world is black. half of my family married black men and women but somehow i cant comprehend hahah
Cool so you sidestepped my whole explanation because you are married to a black woman

Can you nutshell the video?

How would you have like it distinguished?

Nutshell the video: in every Marvel movie, making the right moral choices results in the hero winning the day. In the GOTG movies, the right moral choice has always been for Peter to act impulsively, following his instincts, but in this instance it fails him. In contributes to a larger overall theme in the movie of the characters making the correct moral choices, but still failing, which is a reversal of the rules that the previous Marvel movies were built on. It contributes to audience's sense of Thanos shattering their expectations through sheer force of will.

How I would have liked it distinguished:

This is what happened: heroes about to win, hero gets angry and does something stupid, he fails and the stakes are ratcheted up because they would have succeeded if he didn't sabotage them with stupidity.

Even if the reasons behind this are more thought out than in most movies that use this trope, it's still a trope that we've seen a million times before and right now very few things pull me out of a movie quicker than seeing heroes do something totally goddamned stupid because the plot needs him to in order to ratched up the stakes. Just like in Logan, when they decide to visit the family. I would have absolutely loved the movie if they did not do that. Or, at least find a way to put them in the family's house that was the result of sensible decision-making and not completely fucking stupid and inexplicable.

The actions we see on screen, step by step, are completely indistinguishable from movies that phone it in with shitty tropes. I would have like to have seen something fresh, such as... Quill doesn't succumb to his emotions, doesn't do anything stupid, and they actually get the gauntlet off Thanos. Then Thanos frees himself as Strange powers up an extremely powerful spell, Quill sees that Thanos could regain the gauntlet and charges him with his guns while screaming about Gamorrah, Tony yells for Quill to keep his distance, Strange yells that Quill is going to get hit with the spell, and that split second is what Thanos needs to grab Quill, turn his blasters against whoever has the gauntlet and somehow regain the gauntlet in the wild scramble that follows. Someone yells at Quill: "Why would you do that? We had it!"

I actually really like the idea of Quill having the self-control to avoid creating the situation we see in the movie, only to have his emotions overrule his logic minutes later.

That's just a suggestion, but at least then it would be different than the exact same trope we see every single fucking time.

I think the scene is completely dumb and it was very interesting to me that the script originally called for Quill to not try to shoot Gamora and Gunn had it changed. In the original scenario I actually think the scene makes some sense. But with changing the scene there was a chain reaction that wasn't addressed.

Can you tell me more about this? I'm really curious what would have been different in the first draft.
