That actually bugged me.

Get this man stabby bracers that a LARP dork wouldn't show his fellow virgins.

In actuality the stabby arm shields are more practical and usable than his old shield.

I know we all love the old shield due to how iconic and tied to Cap it is but it mostly denies him one arm. Now as Spiderman pointed out the old Shield denying all the rules of physics via the way Cap throws it and its return to him puts it over the top as it then becomes a great range weapon as well but without that aspect the stabby shields are better.

If you do anything positive or negative for a specific color then yes you are racist.

I understand that people may define words differently but I have always thought that definition of racism was useless. Racism, in its origins always suggested some type of malice or negative connotation so positive or neutral associations did not count in that bucket. If I said 'black people have a higher propensity for sickle cell anemia' people should not be saying that is a racist comment. It is racial and there is a difference.

(does not want to derail this thread but felt that needed to be pointed out)

I have never touched a comic book in my life, but when anything is rumored/mentioned or happens in the MCU, I do a ton of research so I know what I am getting myself into.

**WARNING, MY COMPARISON** She is SORT OF like Jean Grey, in the sense that she has her normal form that is powerful (albeit a different skill set than Jean), then she HAD an ultimate form such as Dark Phoenix which is called Binary. I draw this distinction from a non comic nerd looking in, and may be flamed for the comparison, but that's how I see her. Normal level that's formidable, ultimate level that is at a VERY high level, not quite on par with Dark Phoenix though.

Super tough, super durable, can fly, can project energy. I would compare her to a flying Captain America that can project energy. Her origin movie will show us how she got her powers and show her learning to control them in the past, the end credit scene will be a present scene where she gets called into action, no doubt one of her sidekicks that we grew close to in the movie fades away into ash, giving her some motivation to stomp on Thanos.

Who knows if she goes Binary in the next Avengers or not, but also, who knows at what level Thanos is with his fried gauntlet and gems on the mend. Her going Binary would no doubt be rewritten as to how it happened, unless they really wanna get into the whole Brood and egg thing during her movie, which I highly doubt they will use that if Binary happens.

Sounds legit cheers.

I know he is a character who doesn't get much love in general but personally I'm a fan of Sentry and had been hoping he would show up before this phase comes to a conclusion. Doesn't look in the least bit likely now though.

No shit. Every single actor from Samuel L Jackson to Anthony Hopkins from all the Marvel movies is coming back. It was meant to be a massive surprise for the fans.

Great job keeping it that way you stupid little dumbfuck.

I wouldnt worry about it. MCU wouldnt allow these leaks if it were to completely give up the suprise.

Remember, they gave fake scripts to their own cast. Use different snippets in the trailer.

They got more up their sleeves.

Please don't take offense because I legitimately don't mean any, but I think that's too simplistic of a view to have for something as complex as race relations. BP was a celebration of black culture, black customs, black people. But it did so without saying other races are inferior, and without obvious pandering.

And then pretty much directly after BP, you have IW that continues the theme that Wakandans realize they are a part of a larger global community, and under the leadership of BP they have learned they can be fiercely loyal and protective of their own people, without having a xenophobic attitude towards others. The parallels to the black community IRL are everywhere throughout these two movies imo, and they are done with incredible subtlety, especially when you consider this is a Big Dumb Action genre.

Racism implies exclusion, xenophobia, judging people for what they appear to be on the surface and never bothering to dig deeper. If you look at the overall plot of BP and how those plot threads continue in IW, they are the opposite of that.

I keep things very simple. Its when we compromise and add meaningless things to the dialog that it loses its core value.

promoting only one race to a show is exclusion, Goes with that sentence you just wrote down. its just acceptable right now and for some unknown reason its acceptable but there is a price to pay. THere is an effect for this.

For years blacks fought to be a part of america and now that they are they are fighting to be separate.

Lets not linger on this topic in this thread, dont want to derail it. You can respond if you want to but i wont keep it going in here.

Ok fair enough. On an aside before we get back to IW, I think it's cool that a comic book movie has people talking about complex racial issues. Shows the movies have some thought put into them, and I love when a movie gets people talking about things beyond it's original scope.

yeah but Cap throwing his shield is a big part of his offense, without it he seems limited

Ive heard they want to do the Siege storyline from the comics in an upcoming Thor movie, if that happens then it is a perfect time to introduce the Sentry(or just before it)

M'eh I can't call Brave Heart a racist movie or any Viking Movie a racist movie just because they only promote one aspect of white heritage culture as the Wakanda universe does for blacks. Again the word loses all meaning if you are screaming racism at Brave Heart or the dozens of other movies that may have focused in one area of white culture.

I assume most people are predicting Dr. Strange will arrive from the future to talk to Cap Marvel, probably sitting in the air the way he did in Infinity War, and will explain some key point to her. Maybe after the end credits.

Fixating on nomenclature is where we run into problems, and even people who are mostly on the same side of any given issue can descend into quibbling over terminology. Although I largely agree that we should speak the same language and use the same words, it will prevent a lot of grief if we can look beyond preconceptions, and then we might truly understand what it is we think we're clinging on to.

It could easily be written as the Groot wood, the living wood, was the most valuable and sought after wood for enchanted weapons. They could also write ti that it has to be freely given to have the maximum properties. That is how I would write it anyway.

That would make sense given that all Asgardians are taught to speak Groot as children. There could be a long historical relationship and friendship for that reason.

Aye, maybe the “world tree” was originally a groot.

It's worth noting we were able to have a civil conversation even though people have different perspectives.

One final point... with regards to the post credits stinger in which we see Fury's hail mary pager message being delivered to what is presumably Captain Marvel, I must be honest and say I don't know jack about her. I'm hearing that she will have a big role to play in the IW sequel but just how powerful is she? What sort of power level is she in the comics and with Thanos now wielding the gauntlet and full set of stones will she be in need of a power up from her comic book incarnation to be a serious contender finale?

Worry not, Capt Marvel will have her own origin movie before Avengers 4, so you will know what she is like, especially the MCU version which no one knows at this point.
