"You could not live with Avatar being the most profitable film of all time. And where did that bring you? Back to me";)

I also saw Brightburn was good overall but I felt something off or uneasy about it I can't put my finger on it.. was a bit sad at the end. Weird feeling more or less, will be down to see more in that universe they are trying to create but I saw they didn't really made money with it so who knows.

I rate it a 7.5 Nice premise, solid performances from all the main cast and short enough - about 90 minutes - that it didn't outstay it's welcome. They didn't stint on the gore; the film shows exactly how terrifying a being who possessed anything like Superman's powers would be in the real world.

The attempt to tease a Crime Syndicate and possibly a, "good" Luthor to oppose them was a nice touch, but I don't think the film will make enough money to start a shared universe. A pity, because evil versions of Batman, Flash, Wonder Woman and Aquaman would be Cool AF.

Avartar benefited from the visual spectacle, some of the first, truly great CGI mixed in with live action, along with one of the first major 3D film releases.

The story it self tho was pretty average at best tho.

The thing that people need to realize is story isn't everything. They overlook execution. Just like peeps focus too hard on being a chameleon when it comes to acting, and don't credit truthfulness because it's not flashy enough.

no, that they shamelessly stole from Evangelion
... YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE IS A HOMO

The odd thing that strikes me is how forgiving people are of the same things in ENDGAME for which they'd burn other movies an effigy. I know we're inside its heyday right now, but the shoehorned gay scene nobody bats an eye at, and talk about shamelessly ripping from other movies and mentioning them by name.

I am joking, dont take it so seriously.
All I am saying is, Avatar's visuals were groundbreaking and overwhelmingly good, and same cannot be said about it's story. It was ok, but lacking in comparison to visuals and weaker than in Cameron's best (story-wise) movies.
I liked the movie when it came out and still like it now, and will see sequels when (if?) they finally come out.

Nothing I'm saying is too serious. Half my post addresses the preceding post, hence the shift in tones. Another thing that would be funny is if people harbored this much animosity for GONE WITH THE WIND. Like how dare that fucking movie be all time leader? It's got slaves and shit?

My larger point regarding story is that films of a certain mien don't get to have much wiggle room for story formula. Like how people say there are only seven plots. We've been watching the same movies over and over and over again. So saying a movie is just like another movie doesn't hold much criticism, just like when people don't much care when I say ENDGAME is basically AVENGERS 1. Because it was executed better.

you jest but this is exactly what is going on these days.

I knowww. But new generations taking institutions down is nothing new. It's just a matter of time. I could give a shit because I'm more worried about hearing that there are half as many animals alive as when we were kids and bees got moved to not quite the endangered list but almost.

Honestly I think a big weakess of Avatar for me is that the designs simply weren't very interesting, the alien world looked like it was based on the doodles of a 14 year old girl and the human tech was basically just recycling Aliens.

The main thing in the films favour I would say is that Cameron can still direct very good action scenes and I think that's arguably its greatest contribution, making ultra CGI heavy action work well.

Either way its not very original, given how much freedom the CGI gave him for design work the results were IMHO pretty bland, especially when you compare it to the MCU more recently.

Really only the floating islands sticking in the mind much for me.

What's your favorite pieces of MCU tech? I liked Nividalluer. Nidivalladier. Nednederlander ....

My favorite has to be the spy tech from BLACK PANTHER.

You can not like Wakandan tech, that's cultural appropriation, you colonist!
The obvious answer to favorite MCU tech would be Iron Man suit. Otherwise they are not being very consistent with their styling, I would, say, modify Asgardian tech a lot to look more Norse.

.... which one?

I TAKE WHAT I WANT! I SEE SOMETHING I POKE MY FLAG IN IT!

All of them except new liquid nanoparticle ones, the design is cool for them and shows gradual improvements from more clunky to smoother refined versions. nano suits still fit in that narrative but I dont like them since they dont really look like armor any more.
