LOL doctor, heal thyself!!
That's exactly how this works. Millions of people support the Pats and are invested emotionally in them winning the Super Bowl. But whether the Pats win or lose, their fans lives go on exactly as before. There are no real-life consequences. You don't lose your job if Brady doesn't win another Super Bowl Ring. I don't become a millionaire if Rangers beat Celtic.
Also, please keep your weird sexual fetishes regarding sandwiches out of this discussion, thank you.
See, Charlie, my problem is comparing this to sports teams, and I can see there's an element of hooliganism -- but unlike with sports a movie attaining number one status has sweet fuck all to do with the film itself. Just like Oscar awards are not about merit either, but rather politicking. The expectation that these measurements mean something beyond what they only measure is almost as ludicrous as believing Black Friday is a real holiday and really means something other than spending money. You and I laugh at those people who trip over each other and are willing to fight for a discount television.
One doesn't gain anything by talking trash other than contempt. I get the hooliganism angle of trolling, sure, but to me it's like going up to someone and giving them shit because they're not drinking Coke. There's a name for people who conjure up drama out of nothing. And I wouldn't say it's "exciting."
