Interesting fact. Endgame will make more money than Avatar during its first run. Avatar's grand total includes it's rereleases which added about 37 million or so.
The total of its initial run was approximately 2.749B in August 2010.

Endgame is at 2.749.6B right now. It would have still made another 5-7 million without a rerelease.

So at the end of the day, Avengers is #1 in first run, baby.

All this number one stuff is about the sh*t talking James Cameron made about Marvel films. He basically said there is no quality to Marvel films an no feeling. This is just to say people loved the film enough to make it number one. Rereleasing is not uncommon as pointed out by others.

He really said that? Perhaps hes just pissed about being around blue folks for decades. I understand. After 3 hours of them, i too wanted out.

Sucks that its Endgame tho. Infinity War got me in the theater 4 times.
So endgame is just gonna have a post credits scene? Ugh, for fucks sake, enough of that shit.
Show us hulk fighting.
Show us more of Thanos.
No,you know what? Show hulk v thanos rematch, so we fix 2 fuckups in one go.

I don't remember Cameron saying too much negative about Marvel, the big media fuss was about Wonder Woman.

Tbh, id more likely go see it again if they cut it shorter.

I loved it, but its a bit hefty, with alot of expositional type scenes and character moments to get through.

I just mainly wanna see the big final battle one last time on the big screen.

I can agree to this. It's like Return of the King getting the Oscar that Fellowship of the Ring didn't... The worse movie in the series is the one that gets the accolades. Infinity War is bar none one of the best Marvel movies released and I have a hard time thinking of it as anything but a film that's two notches above Endgame. It's a shame that the lame one of the pair is the one that has the gold medal pinned on it.

Avatar did exactly the same kind of thing, the figure people quote for its world wide gross includes money made by the extended special edition release in the summer of 2010.

By comparison it looks like End Game is just adding a few extras after the end credits.

Hey that's great, man.

Lord of the Rings was pretty consistant for me, I'd probably put Fellowship at the top but not by much, Two Towers especially is I think very underrated.

Again I think it comes down to what you want from the film with these last two Avengers, Infinity War is more taking the route of stuff like Guardians and the last Thor as a bit action/entertainment showcase with some depth to it. Does it very well indeed but I felt End Game was a bit more interesting in really exploiting the dramatic depth of the characters in a way that had only really been hinted at previously in the Cap sequels. Actually nice to see a big blockbuster that was so heavily dependant on just character drama, maybe the most we've seen since Jacksons LOTR films.

Marvel Studios Reveals AVENGERS: ENDGAME Re-Release Details and Poster

Marvel Studios has announced exactly what will be included in the upcoming rerelease of Avengers: Endgame, and for those hoping to see an extended cut of the movie, it might be a little underwhelming.

The rerelease, officially being called “a Bring Back," event,” will feature the movie in its original cut, accompanied by “a video introduction by director Anthony Russo and an unfinished deleted scene from the film,” according to a statement from Marvel. Additionally, a sneak peek at the following week’s Spider-Man: Far From Home will be included.

Participating theaters will be giving away copies of an exclusive poster, featuring the Iron Man gauntlet and the tagline, “We love you 3000,” while stocks last.

News that the movie was headed back to theaters first emerged last week, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige teasing that it would feature new footage. It comes as the movie approaches the record held for highest-grossing movie of all time by James Cameron’s Avatar; Avatar made $2.8 billion, with Endgame currently at $2.74 billion.

The “Bring Back event” arrives Friday, ahead of next week’s Spider-Man: Far From Home, a movie that Feige has recently described as “the true end of the entire Infinity Saga,” in that it deals with the impact of Tony Stark’s death on Peter Parker and the world at large. The future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe beyond that point remains officially unconfirmed, but at this rate, expecting a "true true end to the Infinity Saga" in a future movie might not be entirely out of the question.

Yeah, they're way too close not to nab that accolade... even if they gotta buy 66,600,000 worth of tickets themselvez.

But what happenz when they go through all that effort, & Cameron re-releases the original Avitar in theaterz in the wake of the next few moviez?<Eek2.0>

If they play it right... they could easily get a huge "review audience" with a dual play with original & sequel. that all adz up for the original Avatar right?
