This guy gets it.
Did I hear correct that the cast is doing another season or a movie to fix the mess of that last season? I get it they scrambled after Polly but a better ending would be great for a top level show.

I've heard it's a movie.

To be fair, his face is horribly scarred

Voice is too thin. They need someone with a robust, intimidating voice, a modern James Earl Jones.
I am not sure he could pull off a proper Eastern European accent (if that is the deal-breaker), but I think Jon Hamm has the chops to play a solid Doom.

So I was talking to my friend who works at marvel and he said that Robert Downey Jr coming back to play Dr Doom is a cover up. Here's the real reason they're bringing RDJ back

I really hope this is just the Russo's testing the waters, and RDJ's Doom doesn't end up looking like this. :(

While this isn't a surprise because they're bringing RDJ back and paying him $80 million, it does bring up the question how can they give the antagonist the most screentime over any of the protagonist characters?

This is one Hell of a Hail Mary for Marvel. Yes, both RDJ and Doom have massive levels of brand recognition, but even so they will have to introduce and build up Victor von Doom in less than two years before his first major role. That's a tall order.

I love RDJ and I love Doom. I'm far from convinced this is going to work.

I can only guess, but I think they might play the first movie as if Doom is the protagonist. I don't mean they make him the good guy, but as in the story beats and the "hero journey" will be for Doom not the Avengers.

So somehow it will be an invert of the beats of the heros journey. I dunno how, obviously. But Doom will be the character that heeds a call of some sort, gets the aid, leaves his "world", experiences loss, overcomes adversity, etc. Since he's gonna be the villain, obviously the story elements will reflect that.

It makes a certain amount of sense when you take into account that they were setting up Kang, and now they have to set up a whole new Big Bad and they have little time to do it in comparison to previous villains. Alternatively, there's only so much depth you can plumb from the heroes of the story that we've already seen numerous times.

The Russo brothers sort of experimented with the angle a bit with Thanos, but not to the same depth they'll do here.

The issue is that There is no way RDJ will be masked the whole time if he’s got the most screen time
