While this isn't a surprise because they're bringing RDJ back and paying him $80 million, it does bring up the question how can they give the antagonist the most screentime over any of the protagonist characters?

Because if done correctly Dr. Doom is an amazing character. He is far more interesting than most of the Fantastic Four and many of The Avengers. In the comics this is the same Dr. Doom that killed Thanos by himself.

Man, RDJ is going to be a billionaire from MCU one day. This was a dude that was so drunk and high he used to walk into other peoples homes and sleep in their beds. He is excellent at what he does, but he IS Iron Man. The MCU already poked fun at Chris Evans for being Cap and Human Torch in Deadpool & Wolverine. This is way more egregious because F4 was a failure.

Correction, not just a billionaire, but

@Dragonlordxxxxx this is gonna suck worse than the, " Avengers Assemble for Kamala" video.

I'm going in with an open mind. It just depends on the execution. Didn't watch the video but just read the title. I did not like Carol in the first CM movie but I found her pretty likable in The Marvels though. So there was some course correction to her character and hope they continue that path in Avengers 5 and 6.

I don't mind Carol being the team leader of the Avengers. As long as Doom kills her in the first act of the movie, just to establish exactly how much of a threat Victor is.

How is Iron Man also Doom?

No comprende…

RDJ is playing a Variant from another part of the Multiverse who became Doctor Doom instead of Iron Man.

Which gives rise to multiple questions, of course. For one thing, if he's Victor von Doom, why does he look like Tony Stark? Does he have Doom's classic facial scars?

My worry is that he'll simply be Evil Iron Man and crack jokes every couple of minutes. That's not any version of Doom. He takes everything very seriously. Especially himself.

Your worry is exactly what I am expecting.

i actually agree w/ this. although The Marvels was just alright, & one of the weaker movies overall, they definitely put in the work to make Carol Danvers way more likable.

They can tell the story from his point of view, easy. Or, since we are talking alternate universes, he may not be the antagonist at all. Good guy dr. Doom fighting evil avengers. Or whatever else Marvel's screenwriters imagine while on an acid trip.

And so did many others with better publicists / fixers...

On the flip side, Hans Gruber, Darth Vader, Hannibal Lecter, T-800, T-1000, Anton Chigurh, Hans Landa and many more villains did not need multiple movies to set them up.

Boba Fett only needed sixty seconds of screen time to become a legend.

One of the most appealing things about Doom is that he usually considers himself the Hero. Sometimes he's even right! That makes him much more interesting to follow than, say, Apocalypse, who's a straight up Villain.
