Did they conduct any kind of testing for PEDs in the UFC before the USADA era? Of course if they did it was probably laughably easy to avoid getting caught, just wondering.
 
Pre and post fight tests only. It was considered an IQ test.
 
Makes you wonder how much the UFC swept under the carpet in regards to testing etc
 
The commissions started doing random tests before USADA. Wanderlei ducked out the backdoor of the gym when the drug tester showed up.
 
Cerrone failed a drug test before USADA

Should be banned for life imo

The day before the fight and then immediately after the fight. None other than that.

Right before USADA, NSAC started cracking down and decided to do random tests and what better to start with Overeem and Brock?

They decided to do a random test during a presser and Reem literally ran from the building and jumped in a car. Meanwhile Brock claimed he was out hunting in the wilderness and it would take several days for him to get to a testing facility.

They buried a test Burkman failed before TUF 1, which is why he wasn't on it. Vitor failed a test before he fought Jones, the UFC decided the best solution was to give him a TRT TUE without telling anyone. I'd be shocked if there aren't other cases that haven't come out.

Damn son you never heard about Overeem popping for roids? He was the all set to kill JDS and be the champion in 2012 but failed the pre-fight test, then came back clean and couldn't beat guys like Bigfoot, Rothwell or Brown.
Or Sonnen testing the time he almost beat Silva.

Early one I remember too is Josh Barnett when he won the ufc title, weird rules back then says he still won and was ufc champion THEN was stripped afterwards.

Didn't Sean Sherk fail while he was still LW champ? And I know Vitor failed some back in the day.

Sherk disappeared a long time before that, and had fought for several years after he failed a test vs. Franca. The guy is 44, he aged out, he wasn't running from testing.
