So I keep reading and running into atheists that are true believers and essentially proselytize to anyone they meet especially those of faith. I get not believing in religion. While I disagree with that position it is at least somewhat rational. What I don't get are the people that go out of their way to force their humanism down others. I don't get it.
I am not talking about poking hole in any one religion rather this militant belief that there is nothing other than what we can perceive. If there is no afterlife but that false belief makes people happy then why take that away? How does it benefit the atheist to take away another belief? Some atheists spend a lot of time on this. Why take away from your life to do this. I'd like to hear from the board. It just boggles my mind.

I'm an atheist who has nothing against religion and isn't seeking to un-convert... de-religionate... whatever

Atheists are like closet homersexuals...they bash something, because they're secretly curious about it. Like guys bashing gays, though deep down they're counting down the seconds until they smash through that closet door!

If their belief didn't affect others it would be one thing.

Do you not think Muslim's religious beliefs have negative effects on humanity at times?
Have evangelical Christian beliefs impacted the rights of gays?
Has having a blind following to preachers let people be swayed into taking positions that they wouldn't without critical thinking?

They're kind of the new vegans. With that old gag that goes "Oh no, he's choking - is anybody a doctor?" the vegans are coming in behind "I'm an atheist" these days.

So atheists are closeted religionists?

Um...

Atheism and Feminism has gone down the same route of toxicity imo.

This makes no logical sense.

I agree to an extent.

I think a true atheist would not care what others believe. I consider myself an atheist not because I don't beleive in religion, rather I believe any one of them could be the real one.

If an atheist cares what someone believes they are definitely holding some insecurity in their hearts.

I dont want people to waste their lives believing in lies like I did I wasted years believing this shit and it sucks.
People talk about god as being this great loving being but the fucker damned the whole human race because Adam and Eve ate fucking fruit. He drowned countless people and innocent animals he killed all the first born in egypt
He burned 2 cities to the ground cause gays were there and he sends people to a fiery pit forever just because they dont want to be his bff.
Theres nothing loving about that god he is an evil sadistic prick and anybody that still believes the shit after looking at the bible with their eyes open is a fool.

What about the millions of christians killed or displaced by Russia after they adopted atheism as the belief of the state?

If there is no afterlife but the belief in a afterlife makes a person happy why does the atheist want to take that belief away from a person. It does nothing other than to make the former believer unhappy and the outcome is still the same. You die.
