Atheists fail to understand that when you persecute christianity, it grows. Lets hope the chinese people overthrow their cruel atheist government that has killed millions over the years. Let freedom reign!

Militant atheism once again has failed. It failed in russia and now its failing in China.

Good. It will hopefully stop them from gaining ground on America in science.

lol. Well said.

Priests...dread the advance of science as witches do the approach of daylight and scowl on the fatal harbinger announcing the subversions of the duperies on which they live.

-Thomas Jefferson, Letter to Correa de Serra, April 11, 1820

Hopefully China can prevent churches from becoming big business, but that's hard to do.

Funnily enough, the Christianity-inspired Taiping Rebellion in China caused between an estimated 20-70 million dead, as well as millions more displaced. The war was the largest in China since the Qing conquest in 1644, and ranks as one of the bloodiest wars in human history, the bloodiest civil war, and the largest conflict of the nineteenth century.

The movement's founder, Hong Xiuquan, had tried and failed to earn his shengyuan civil service degree numerous times. After one such failure in 1836, Hong overheard a Chinese Protestant missionary (Liang Fa) preaching and took home some Chinese translations of Bible tracts . . . Hong and his cousin were both baptized in accordance with Liang's directions . . . In 1843, after Hong's final failure at the exams, he had what some regard as a nervous breakdown and others as a mystical revelation, connecting his in-depth readings of the Christian tracts to strange dreams he had been having for the past six years. In his dreams, a bearded man with golden hair and a black robe called himself Jehovah, gave him a sword, and taught him to slay demons beside a younger man whom Hong addressed as "Elder Brother".

This doesn't mean that atheism is false. If anything it indicates some sociological and psychological phenomenon. There is a naturalistic explanation for what is happening in China.

Here we see atheists desperately trying to pin atrocities on christianity when Jesus himself would have been the loudest critics of such deeds.

While I don't agree with the Chinese government's oppressive laws curtailing the freedoms of religion, according to your sources there is a religion just barely outpacing Christianity in proportion; most critical among the youngest demographic.

Islam. It's coming up fast because the country ended their one-child law, not due to conversions (which historically is the foundation of Protestant growth). Careful about framing the adoption of religion as fundamentally positive. Like the rind of the flower that the priest studies in Romeo & Juliet this energy has a dual potential.

Also, a Gallup poll in 2014 put their numbers here:

That 7% includes ALL non-Atheists. It's still a largely agnostic nation though it appears it is experiencing some of the growth in religion that we're seeing in other industrialized nations like Brazil.

That is tragic, religion just drags down our species

Does the poll account for the rather unique role of Chinese popular religion? You ask a lot of Chinese people if they're religious and they'll say "No" thinking that religion means worship of a particular God, individual religion or a particular set of spiritual beliefs... Meanwhile they're praying to a virtual pantheon of gods across multiple faiths and are actively spiritual in a way that doesn't fit into the categories of atheist or agnostic. I don't actually know how pervasive it is in China but it might throw a monkey wrench into a poll on religion if that poll isn't specifically tailored to account for this bizarre spiritual practice.

"Counting the number of religious people anywhere is hard; counting them in China is even harder. Low response rates, non-random samples, and adverse political and cultural climates are persistent problems.[69] One scholar concludes that statistics on religious believers in China "cannot be accurate in a real scientific sense," since definitions of "religion" exclude people who do not see themselves as members of a religious organization but are still "religious" in their daily actions and fundamental beliefs.[70] The concept of "religion" in China is very different from that in the Western world"

And its this type of thinking that will lead to more atheist arocities in the future. I'm just glad that china is becoming free and defying the atheist overlords. Atheism never succeeds and that fills me with hope.

People like you will become problematic in the future, but christianity always succeeds in the end. Christianity will outlive you and your fleeting materialism.

i was being sarcastic, i guess its the wrong forum, sorry about that champ

Jesus also would have been the loudest critic of Christian behavior, so that's irrelevant.

Of course Jesus would condemn a lot of behavior done by some christians. I'm showing that when atheists try to blame christianity for various horrors its easy to refute them. Jesus himself easily debunks atheists "violent christianity" arguments. Thats not irrelevant at all.

Jesus would outright condemn EVERYTHING atheists have done in the past.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
