You think he should be considered P4P 1 as long as he doesnt lose, no matter how rarely he fights? I mean, if Jones doesnt face and beat DC next month and if MM beats Cejudo, MM would have defended his belts 3 times since Jones last fought. I know P4P is kinda pointless anyway, but since they keep making those rankings what do you think? Should MM be ranked ahead Jones if Jones doesnt fight and MM wins?

Edgar is the real P4P 1

when it happens it happens, who cares about that right now. He isnt out of the fight yet.

yeah people acting like he has been sidelined. He has been arrested but that doesn't mean he will still not make it to the fight. The fight is in late April, there is still time for them to resolve stuff. And you can bet the Zuffa boys will be willing to pay anything to bail him if they have to. They are not letting go of this ppv. Could do well over a million buys.

I have actually suspected from the start that there is around 50/50 chance this fight wont happen anyway yet and either one pulls out because of an "injury". Im pretty sure both DC and Jones would prefer to fight on a UFC 200 or New york card. They would make a lot more money.

When someone does more then what Jones has done.

I don't think it matters OP. Lets say they take Jones off the P4P list right now today. Do you honestly think fans will be fooled by that and not still think Jones is one of, if not the best fighter in the MMA world? When Jones lost his belt for legal troubles and the UFC removed him from the top 10 listings do you think anyone didn't still think Jones was the best LHW of all time even though he wasn't currently listed? With some fighters these things matter, with Jones not so much because even most of his haters know he is one of the best fighters of all time.

With his body of work, someone needs to overtake him, not him fall down the rankings.

Nobody under him is even close to having his body of work, unbeaten also. Demetrious is doing well, but until he beats Cruz, or beats another 10 Flyweights, he won't have an argument. A few more wins for Werdum and you could start to make an argument. If DC was to defend his title a few times more, then he'd be in the argument. Cruz with 3-4 more wins, would be in the argument - nobody else.

Why you think MM should defend his belt 10 more times to have an argument? He already has 7 defences and he will make it 8 if he beats Cejudo, Jones has also 8.

And then you say Werdum and Cormier might have an argument with only a few more wins. That sounds like you are somehow biased against Mighty Mouse.

I didnt say he should take off the list, I was asking if MM should be ranked ahead of him with equal title defences and by proving himself more recently and more often.

I think the better question is at what point does his inactivity affect his skills. I think he's the most naturally gifted fighter in mma but if he's off another year or so who knows how that affects him?

It's not like he's chosen to sit out or been sidelined from injuries. He'll be back and not much will have changed

Yea but I'm telling you it doesn't really matter with Bones. You could completely remove him from the list and do you really think very many people will think MM is a better fighter than Jon Jones? They absolutely will not because Bones is perceived to be the best fighter alive today.

Might Mouse is already ahead of Jones considering he has a glut of title defences and wins in a higher weight class.

DC dont wanna fight in NY

Yes, I do think many educated fans already think MM is the better fighter P4P. Why wouldnt they? MM is not a big FLW. And even more people would probably feel the same if MMs weightclass was equally popular and getting the same media coverage as LHW.

P4p is meaningless, but Mighty Mouse should already be ahead for me. There's no one even close to him at his weight class, and the only guy to even push him close was Mcall, and he's dominated him since. Even at BW he gave Cruz a harder fight than most of the actual BWs, and beat Miguel Torres.
The guy goes unnoticed, but he hasn't got a hole in his game

Jones took out 6 UFC champions along the way.

Its pretty dificult for MM to compete with that, since he is the inaugural and only FLW champion. Also, had there been some dominant champ before Jones he couldnt have beat so many former champions. A lot more important is those opponents real skill level at the time Jones faced them.
