At what point do you think a prank goes too far?

So I'm gonna rant a bit
I've been seeing a lot of prank videos and I feel a lot of them aren't funny just because of how it's not really a prank as just being an asshole.
Personally I think a prank goes too far when it involves strangers and a potentially dangerous, hazardous, or just plain inconvenient (like splattering pie) situation.
Also pranks that are just plain harassment.

Also in the realm of this subject, "Social Experiments". I hate "Social experiments" where the experiment itself is catered towards getting desired results. For example, I saw one where a guy goes around asking people for food randomly. Then after a while, he gives a homeless man a whole pizza, then has another guy appear, talk to the man, and complain about how hard life is and how hungry he is. The homeless guy gives him a slice of the whole pizza he has.
Completely different situations.

^ That sums it up quite nicely

The problem is that people don't understand what a prank is anymore.

People on YouTube actually think that walking up to people and being an asshole, or behaving in a shocking manner is a prank.

There was one where a white guy just walked up to black people and sneered at them, "it's a damn nickel!" and then when the black guy was like, WTF, the white guy would point to a nickel on the ground that he had put there. Har har har...

i saw a video where a guy would go up to people on their phones and take them and run. deserved to get curb stomped. he'd bargain that "it's just a prank" and the idiots in the youtube comments would laugh about how the people he "pranks" are gotten to. pranks don't cost the mark $800. i honestly woulda stood on that guy's neck while taunting his friend recording the video and told him to post it online, send me the video so i could post it to my own youtube channel, then call the police to deal with the situation. while still standing on his neck waiting for the police.

That's another thing. Any prank that leads to damage of something valuable is a dick move. The videos of dudes scaring people on docks or boats into water risk messing somebody's phone/whatever else in their pockets.

yeah, idk. ive never been a fan of pranks to begin with. but the ones on youtube are always so fucking extra. that's how people are i guess when they want to gain attention online, and there's something to be gained from that attention.

i kinda hate when the "pranksters" do something totally shitty and before they're about to get their ass beat they're like "NO NO IT'S JUST A JOKE!!! SEE THE CAMERA!!!" like i'd still beat they asses man, that line shouldn't be saving nobody if they have it coming.

Realistically, the moment some asshole decides to do some dumb ass shit.

An explosive fellow pulled a gun on me as a prank, which turned out to be a BB gun, but up to then the most interaction I'd had with him up to that point was a twenty second 'hello, nice to meet you.' The initial adrenaline rush let me play it off pretty well but after leaving I realized how shook up I was and disturbed by how people I considered my friends thought it was hilarious.

A lot of those videos are fakes. Lots of times it is set up and people are encouraged to have X reaction.

Even worse then, that they take the time to act out a script for a prank that isn't even funny if it's real.

What's worse is when people see fake prank videos and go out and try to mimic them in real life.

Y'know, I have a great idea for business venture. Grab a camera, and go around snatching peoples wallets. If you get caught, show them the camera and say it was a prank. Move onto a different area and repeat.

I remember this one first surfaced around 2004...
