At what age can we more or less agree you start to decline at?

Depending on damage taken, type of fighter, and chronological age I'd say 28-32 is when decline begins and it doesn't necessarily have to be a sudden steep decline it can be quite gradual.
Not only that, but when physical attributes start to decline you've likely gained a lot of knowledge and experience by then.

Fighting professionally wise and in each division? I obviously think the heavier divisions allow for more longevity. Reason I bring this up, guys like Joe Benevidez who fight at 125 pounds, hes 36. Those lighter weight classes is a young mans game. Even at 155 with Tony Ferguson. Hes not the same. I think on average 35 is the age you gotta hang it up. LHW and HW you can fight into your 40s. Glover, Randy, Reem, etc. Even Anderson at 35 was still in his prime at MW. But that was during the steroid era. That changes everything. Just curious.

There's no one age. You need only go to an old folks home to see how vastly different people age. Some 90 year olds have aged better than some 60 year olds. Some people die of natural causes at a very young age.

Genetics, lifestyle, injuries, and even luck (not picking up a bad disease) all play a roll in how fast people age. Some fighters are old men at 25, some are still relatively young at 40. Its like asking at what age can we agree that everyone dies -- it varies.

think that's why Khabib quit after 29 fights? It's not just those fights. It's the training. It's the amateur fights before that. Etc.
His style is very hard training. Aggressive in your face, constant. That's why he had so many injuries

yeah, youger guys will definitely kick your ass in terms of cardio, endurance, reaction time...

the only thing older guys have is experience and strength
Even if you are "older" you can improved your cardio and endurance, your reaction time too, but it is most difficult

33 is considered your last prime year in boxing.

Lebron is still getting it done at 36, going to be 37 later this year. Baseball has a lot of dudes around that age getting it done. Football, its positional. In NFL sometimes at 33-34 you are done. But look at tom brady at 43. It all depends

99% guys are definitely done by their 30's in the NFL. The average age to retire is 26 the last time I checked.

Endurance and strength, yes. Reaction time...that's the first thing to go, and when it's gone, it ain't coming back.

If that's true, your dad is a very rare case. In basketball, the decline starts earlier than in most sports. It's downhill for sure past the early 30's. The average age of an NBA player is 26. There are teams without a player over 30.

MMA is such a different deal than the other major sports, with people entering it at a later age, the impact of different styles on wear and tear, and the relative speed of competitors at different weight classes. Outside of the two heaviest weight classes, which are their own little world, 32-35 and it's going downhill.
My dad is a genetic freak, even my best friend tells me that. I wasn’t built like that unfortunately. I was bigger than my dad and stronger than my dad. But I don’t have the endurance of my dad. It is what is it.

Different for everybody. My dad says he felt brst in his 40's.

Well that’s why people run to gear in their mid to late 30’s. Even thereuptic TRT can make you feel 25 again.

Everyone is different. Look at George Foreman (I mean George Holmes), Bernard Hopkins, Randy Couture, Daniel Cormier, Yoel Romero. The end.

I cant prove it but those sports are rife with "supplements". Actually all sports. I wouldnt doubt it if they are on some real cutting edge stuff. Not to say that they dont work hard and have great genetics, but i dont think its just that at all. MMA is full of it and im sure these guys in sports where that are making vastly more money and have access to even better stuff, wouldnt use it especially since the NBA and NFL testing isnt even as strict as the UFCs.

I don't know what the NBA does, but the NFL testing is a joke. Total juice league.

I think it depends what type of style you have and also what weightclass you are in too

Lets look at Jan for example, yes he is 38, but the age is not hurting him, do you know why? because he has always been slow and flat footed, I saw him fight when he was in his 20's and he was flat footed and kinda slow and ploddy back then... so nothing has had to change for him, he has not slowed down and lost tons of speed due too age

Also LHW and HW are fine for older guys, and the opponents are always slower. Lets look at Joe Benavidez for example.. he is 37 and the age is hurting him badly because he is flyweight, you can't be 37 and fight at 125, its way too old for very fast guys who are so quick and lightning reflexes
