This country is fucking up in so many ways it can't get straight. PE should - as is the case in Eastern Europe - be super-fucking-mandatory since day 1 in elementary school. Hell - PE class is, and I'm 1000% serious when I say this because I lived this, even as an unfit kid - THE most looked-towards-to class in the week. It meant we could let fucking loose, get any stress out, chill, let all the anger out!!! It was amazing! Of the classes I skipped, PE is the one I NEVER tried to skip.
