There's a lot of revisionist history about this fight but it's very interesting to actually watch it again and see the reality, because of the fact that it's the only fight where Tom went to the second round.

At the start of the second round, the accouncer is literally stunned while remarking that the 20+ year veteran in his 40s is the fresher fighter.

Then there's also the fact that Tom was dominating early then started getting lit the fuck up towards the end of round one and the early part of round 2. You KNOW Tom was getting frustrated because he started doing Bobby Green level cope shit like shake his head "no" after getting hit.

Then of course he got the takedown and finish, however what this proves is that Oldlovski turned Tom into a panic wrestler. Tom was on his way to losing a decision or getting his lights put out of that fight continued on the feet.

Well that seems like it's probably the most important part of the fight, rather than hypotheticals.

I mean yeah if we were simply trying to determine who won a fight between Arlovski and Arlovski.....but looking at past fights and seeing potential weaknesses is a pretty common practice, which helped many of know with virtual certainty that for example Khamzat vs DDP was a squash match, while others just said "well DDP won all his fights and he's strong!"

I don't think 42 year old Arlovski or whatever he was at the time would beat prime Aspinall more times than not, if that's what you're getting at

This is nothing more than a bunch of fact twisting in order to fit the narrative you're trying to sell.

MMA isn't an exact science. The fact that Aspinall destroyed much tougher opponents quickly and Arlovski was his toughest fight to date shows that.

And when Plan A doesn't work, you go to Plan B. Etc. But showing how versatile one is is supposed to be a negative now?

I'd be shocked if Gane makes it past the 1st round.

This is exactly what will happen:

You really think it will be that easy though? Do you think Gane would get ragdolled by a 40 year old Kongo the way Volkov did? I know Gane isn't exactly Brock or Cain but he's not that easy to manhandle. His grappling in the Volkov fight only looked bad because his feet were fucked up, he had no issues shutting down Spivac in the fight right before that.

Of course! Aspinall is obviously just a loser panic wrestler. He totally didn't show fight iq and diverse skills for the easiest path to victory. Was obviously super duper gassed and terrified of Arlovski's striking skills.

I didn't say anything like that, of course he made the right choice to grapple and get the win. And I didn't invent the gassed observation, the commentator called it out.

Didnt Gane get handled on the ground by Ngannou fighting on one leg?

Yes he did for the most part. He got takedowns of his own as well but made poor choices on the ground. Ngannou had the element of surprise though, and Ngannou improved his wrestling to the point that he outwrestled champion Stipe. Tom can't claim to have done anything close to that so far.

The Ngannou injury is over hyped too, if your leg is so fucked up how the heck does that make wrestling easier than striking? Ngannou looked pretty similar in there whereas with Gane's injury you could see he was a completely different fighter.

Wait... so you approve of looking back on old fights and finding weaknesses when it supports your fighter, but you disapprove of it when it doesn't?

Another retarded thread. You already have the record, bud.

Did you miss where Aspinall is teeing off on Arlovski against the cage right before taking him down and subbing him? Of course you did.

I'm not sure someone could be a worse poster than you even if their goal was to convince everyone that they were an inbred meth addict.

He just has the bloated face of a man using fighting to escape a full day’s work!

Commentators are never wrong! All those times where they say "It's over" only to see it not even be close to being over...we all just imagine those!

LMAO you are pathetic.

Spivac's wrestling is absolute shit though. He relies mostly getting the clinch to use Judo, which is why Gane took that fight.

And that was not panic wrestling. not from that clip. That was a greatly timed and executed takedown and finish.
Well...that's a bad thing!

Look at Tom panic finishing people. He'll never do good in UFC
