Anyone watch this dude? I had no idea who he was but he’s rocking like 244k viewers at the moment so I figure he must be someone big. Seems like a react channel but that viewership is insane.

Yep He recently went from MMO-only streams to more variety streams. I really enjoy his content, funny, self deprecating, and politically balanced.



I dont watch many streamers but his content is great

Ive watched him regularly for the past three years. Kind of depressing how hard he's simping for Depp.

For instance Depp sounded like a ninety year old drunk man with the way he was talking and framing sentences today in his testimony. Asmon just explains it away by him not being misunderstood. When the guy clearly is a heavy drug user thats losing his faculties at a fast rate.


Asmon also has a bad habit of playing things up when his viewers reach a specific count. Just watch his zackrawr streams. He's a completely different person.

He also has like 6 YouTube channels that all get the same content uploaded to it. He milked Elden Ring for all it was worth
 
That’s where I’ve been listening to the trial lol. He offers an amusing take on the mundane process.

Don’t watch him a ton outside of that but he seems like a decent dude.

Two are run by him. Others that show stream highlights are run by the same person who alters the channel name every year or so. Its how he gets around the Twitch partner ToS that forbids uploading content to a third party website till 24 hours after the stream ends.
 
back when I was playing classic wow with a top end raiding guild (onslaught, NA horde) I used to watch his stuff from time to time because I lived and breathed that game.
 
Haven't watched much. Im sort of mystified why his audience is so large. He doesn't seem particularly perceptive or witty. Granted, it's not like I sit and watch a lot of him, just what I've seen in passing.

He doesn't dispute Johnny does drugs. In fact, it's common knowledge. So what if the guy's not that articulate these days?

Ive watched some of his videos on YouTube and he’s all right. I don’t really know why anyone regularly watches gamer streams. Seems boring to me.
 
Asmongold got kicked out of the OTK tonight. Well it was released on a Friday night. Which you know what that means.

Out of the five original founders only one remains, Esfand. Tips Out is a founder in name only since he has stopped streaming an participating with the org in any way, Rich Campbell was fired for sexual misconduct and Mizkif was demoted to content creator for covering up sexual assault.
 
I've checked out a few of his clips on YouTube.

He's alright. Bit too political though and a bit harsh sometimes.

Its a interesting case study. Evolution of Twitch as a live streaming platform and Asmongold as a streamer on Twitch.

Former VP of Amazon Gaming recently came out confirming Twitchs dramatic shift. From exclusively gaming related services to now reality TV, react and softcore porn style content in the IRL(now Just Chatting) directory. Thats been the #1 category on Twitch since late 2018(?).

With Asmongold react content was his only logical path career wise. His viewership was predicated on World of Warcraft knowledge. As a game and Twitch directory World of Warcraft was dying in popularity. Either become a variety game streamer who was never known for his gameplay or someone who reacts to YouTube and social media in Twitchs #1 directory.
 
I thought that Asmons viewership came from clips of him defending videogames from the radical left, so for him to go to a more political route with it is logical, if a bit disappointing.

I'm glad that he called out some of of the stuff that Twitch has been doing though. Sounds outright morally corrupt.

Twitch was completely hacked in 2021. Everything from its source code to internal documents. One thing that was found out was how certain popular Turkish Twitch streamers were using Twitch to launder money. Another was how Twitch internally mitigated and avoided enforcing ToS violations with its most popular streamers. Something Asmongold was a direct beneficiary of with his 14 day suspension last year. Streamer who wasnt in the top percentile and or connected to a top percentile streamer would have been permanently banned for such a comment.
