I get he doesn’t want to fight Jeremy Stephens, he doesn’t owe him shit, same for Dana who only thinks $$$ for himself…. But Frankie?

Frankie risked his title shot and gave Ortega an opportunity if Ortega was a man of principle he should have said: « I accept the fight, but even if I win, I will not fight for a title shot before Frankie does, because he earned it ».

But to take an opportunity and not giving it in return sounds like crap to me…..

It’s like you’re starving and can’t buy food, and this random guy next to you gave you half of his sandwich even if he’s also starving. One month later you see the same guy starving for food with no money, and you’re like « hey I worked hard to buy that sandwich, and I’m starving as well, I don’t owe him shit and just gonna eat the whole thing.»

Sounds like a piece of shit mentality to me.

I don't blame him for not taking the fight... But from a moral/ethical POV you absolutely nail it.
It's all good tho karma will come around

Agree fighters should stay active unless they cleared the path to contention. Give Frankie a rematch!

Didn't Frankie say he couldn't fight?

Maybe Ortega wanted to fight but his management (Rener Gracie) decided not to risk a title shot. Ortega appears to be a fair guy.

So in other words, you DON'T like Ortega.

lol
One action doesn't define a whole individual. Ortega seems to be a genuine guy in general, but he did disappoint me a lot towards Frankie with that.

Maybe he wanted to take the fight and his team pushed him to not take it, at this point I don't know, but even with that, your team should be in accordance to who you are, and his whole "not fighting for fame/money" "Martial arts", "Respectful to my peers" sounds a little flat to me now.

Yeh it’s pretty sad / scummy.

I do get it from a business standpoint.

He’s already in line for a title shot. Him taking it risks it. Also willing to bet Dana said he can’t take it.

Ortega proved something to me. Frankie did him a solid and saved a card. Ortega is an opportunist that wasn't willing to do the same. On it's own maybe forgivable but combined with the drug test fail lost respect for him.

Ortega title fight opportunities: 1
Frankie title fight opportunities: 148

I get it.

Why put Frankie back in there? The first fight wasn't close and he's only had one win since then.
