As a Poirier fan this is gonna be rough.

It's just a problem among fight fans. You're great until you lose at which point you always sucked and just got exposed.

I'm not going to sit here and act like Poirier has no chance though. He can definitely beat Conor.

Whoever loses this fight doesn't "suck" though. They're two elite fighters going at it and somebody has to lose.

Poirier can most definitely win this fight. He's an excellent fighter. He'll probably be the underdog, and that might be right, but he's no can.

First of all, McGregor has a known weakness in terms of cardio. Second, Poirier has solid boxing both offensively and defensively and he hits hard. Easiest way for him to lose is get a bit emotional and start brawling and run into a counter.

McGregor is probably gonna sleep him and people will consider him a joke just like they did with my boy Cowboy Cerrone.
I agree with you. I like Dustin a lot, he is very much top 3. Probably will be until he retires. But I think Conor and Khabib will always be his kryptonite

Being a fan of his must have been rough for the majority of his career :D

It's depressing being a Cowboy fan, people shat on him way too hard even before the Conor fight. Even before he fought RDA for the belt he was labelled a gatekeeper. Really pulling for old cowboy to get that belt somehow.

As for Dustin he has a chance but imo he's too reckless. Or his fight IQ is trash, whatever you want to call it. I find it weird that the narrative seems to have changed tho. Before people were saying both Poirier and Holloway would whoop Conor in a rematch but now that Poirier is actually set to fight Conor they've changed their tune.

Cowboy is a really fun fighter, but he's never really been championship caliber. He's in that Chris Lytle mold.

I agree with you that if Poirier loses it will likely be because he gets too reckless. If he can stay focused and disciplined, I think he's a handful for any LW not named Khabib. It's true though that McGregor is a lot better than his detractors say he is (against any LW not named Khabib).

I had never seen the first fight until a couple days ago. The punch that ended it was basically a glancing blow to the back of the head when Poirier tried to duck a punch. Didn't look like much at all, but I guess it hit just the right spot. I won't call it lucky punch, but it wasn't a solid blow to the chin or even a power shot. Anyway, my point is that I don't think that was representative of Porier's toughness or chin. If he can avoid another early stoppage, then the longer the fight goes, the more it favors him.

Its mma and anything can happen blah blah, but theres no reason to believe dustin can all of the sudden take that Conor left hand.

Tko round 1.

Conors striking is 100 times better than Nate Diaz, are you kidding me? The only reason Nate won the first fight was because Conor underestimated his chin and gassed out early. He didn't make the same mistake the second time round, it's a tough fight regardless because Nate hardly gets knocked out due to his chin and takes a toll on energy for sure.

Even then, Conor is almost half his size and was dominating him on the feet for most of the fight
until he gassed again but he was smarter 2nd time round and focused on winning rounds. Nate's face was a mess after both fights. Not biased one bit, but to compare Nate's striking to Conors is a joke, let's be real here. Nate's game is zombie boxing. Punching bag until he tires out his opponent and then he finally has a bit of success lol
ew sherbro. he barely won the second and some people scored it for nate. how can he be THAT much better of a striker? "oh he just cant knock nate out". so whats that tell you if he cant finish him, that its a hard fight?

hes also not small enough to be complaining about weight. nate, masvidal, pettis , mcgregor, rda all are 155ers that can make and perfom at 170.
