I went through the whole ride with Nick, even the lowly Thomas Denny fights. I remember how hyped I got all the way up to him getting beat by gsp. Still my favorite fighter. Daley/Diaz & gomi/diaz were amazing.

I was there through all the hate and shit talk. But man I was disappointed in Nick when he didn't show up for 137 press conference.

In hindsight, I'm not as upset as I was then. But I remember thinking, if you are as about the gsp fight as you say you are, how can you give him any excuse to slip away?

Now the thing is the UFC dropped that fight that at the time would have broke 1.2 million and settled for one later that sold 950k. And I have no doubt they can pull 1.6 again without conor, or that if the fight is delayed, it won't exceed 1.3 again. And I don't think they care.

The UFC has been dealing with entire promotions full of fighters since before they had the money to do so. They took on Floyd mayweather, Fedor, pride and strikeforce.

As for conor, and to some extent Nick Diaz, I get it, you hate this guy you don't want to lose, you don't care about anything else. But in the world we live in you get up to maybe 85% and you give it your best shot.

Nick messed up and lost. Conor messed up and lost. There are consequences. Don't dig a deeper hole. Don't shoot yourself in the foot.

I'm not even mad at either of them, shit happens but I don't think they are exempt. Nick should have put up with gsp. Cm should have put up with roster UFC 200. Because it's gsp and UFC 200.

He lost to Nate months ago. Don't try to change the rules the week the biggest card in UFC history goes on sale (tickets). That puts a business in a position where they have no choice.

Unfortunately for Conor he putted himselfe in a very bad position

137
He didn't show up for 137 presser but when GSP got Injured Dana called him back to face BJ Penn, He got a title shot at 158 after that. didn't lose much on that one.
Feel that will be the same for Conor, They will need him someday, don't worry

Good catch. It's early lol

Completely different. Nick came over from Strikeforce as the champ. Needed to promote the champ vs champ situation. Conor has danced and has done more press than the rest of the fighters combined.

I think few people other than hardcore Conor fans think he handled this whole thing the right way. Perhaps he thought the promoting schedule they offered him was too intense, but "retiring" was hardly the appropriate way to protest it.

as a Nick Diaz fan, I could care less about any of this

UFC 200 bro
Exactly, was suppose to be the biggest event ever, why the f*ck he tought promo wasn't MANDATORY????!

That being said, The UFC will also lose a lot on that one.
It's just a D*ck mesuring contest guy's...

If this event does 2 mill headlined by gsp, conor will have calculated wrong

Yea he came off as a petulant child in my opinion.

Don't think Gsp's is coming back for 200.

More Like Jones Vs Cormier 2 imo.
Imagine if one of the 2 get injured, or Jones got a tougher fight than expected saturday and can't make it to 200.

Conor win big Time.

a plan B fight like Lawler Vs Woodley wouldn't break 800k even for 200...

I think what Conor is doing is ultimately good. Nate, did it, GSP, Brock, Ronda rumbled about it, now Conor is digging his heels in. The UFC are going to have to relax a bit on their media expectations for their big stars, especially if they aren't paying them.
That isn't going to happen if people don't resist. Why else would the UFC change?

Of course, now Conor has to be punished. But in the long run, once again, Conor is setting something up that others down the line will benefit from.

Actually I think no matter what it will do 1.2 because of the event and top to bottom minus two fights (one additional, replacement for conor) it's the best card they have ever done.

Now if Jon Jones got hurt, and gsp/ronda held out there is still two fights I think they could do to match 1.6 just based on the card being UFC 200

I think you do lawler vs Diaz and rumble vs Glover

Then ur card is
Lawler vs Diaz
Aldo vs edgar
Tate vs nunes
Cain vs Browne
Rumble vs Glover

Eh maybe. Even at a loss though 1.3 is a UFC victory.

Yes and I have pity for the mental health of these guys/girls. But you start this negotiation way before the week of ticket sales.

Yea but did you really think that the Baldfather was just going to let Conor run his mouth without eventually being put in his place? Everything was fun and games to Dana when McGregor was talking shit to other fighters but when Conor started saying he was neck in neck with Dana on who was the most important to the company, at that point I knew McGregor had no idea who he was fucking with. Dana has thrown many fighters under the bus.
