He talked shit about Khabib in an interview and said that he was going to slap him, then from what I heard it was him who approached Khabib when they saw each other?

So he said that when he sees Khabib he is going to slap him, then had the nerve to go and approach him as well. Khabib was entirely justified in doing what he did, IMO, if Artem was the one who initiated their real life encounter after making a threat.
