Arman Tsarukyan advised Khamzat Chimaev against striking at UFC 319.

Chimaev challenged Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title in the main event at UFC 319 last weekend in Chicago. Tsarukyan was a part of Chimaev’s camp under head coach Sam Calavitta and also served as his cornerman. Chimaev took Du Plessis down and ragdolled him for five rounds to earn a dominant unanimous decision win. Tsarukyan revealed that Chimaev wanted to strike with “Stillknocks” going into the fourth stanza. However, “Ahalkalakets” didn’t want Chimaev to risk anything, as the game plan was working to perfection.

Tsarukyan Wanted Chimaev to Stick to Wrestling

“If we had let him go chasing a knockout, a finish, he might have made a mistake somewhere and lost the fight,” Tsarukyan told Adam Zubayraev. “So it’s a risk, right? Why risk it if everything’s working? In the third round, he tells me, ‘Can I box a little now?’ [I said] No, Khamzat, everything’s working for you already. If you see a chance to take him down, take him down and control. No need to invent anything. If you win three rounds at this pace, why change anything? Why make things up?”

While some criticized Chimaev for the wrestling-heavy approach, it was one of the most dominant displays in the history of title fights. UFC boss Dana White saw the Chechen-born winning four 10-8 rounds.

Arman Tsarukyan says Khamzat wanted to stand and strike in the 4th round, but he told him to stick to the game plan.

"Before going into the fourth, he says, ‘Brother, now can I move around in the standup?’ I said, ‘No, go in, do the same thing, you’ll win three to nothing. Why… pic.twitter.com/X9scCUYpSY

HOW TO AVOID A TITLE SHOT by Arman Tsarukyan.

A New York Times no-seller.

This makes the win even worse

Just wrestle don't try to cause any damage or impress anyone by taking any risks don't try to entertain the crowd you know the ones that are there to see you put on a good fight and are essentially the reason why you get paid
No don't worry about any of that just wrestle fuck him for 5 rounds the say where's my money fuck your belt

Bro go wrestle fuck somewhere else nobody wants to see that garbage style

At least Khabib took risks and tested himself even when he decided to wrestle guys he put on a dominant performance by inflicting damage and trying to get the finish

Cut Chimaev

I mean yeah, DDP is already awkward as fuck on the feet and has some solid power
Not worth the risk, especially considering how we've seen him be susceptible to being taken down and controlled before

Khabib never beat anyone as good as DDP lol

The Khamzat who's actually listening to his team will be a very hard guy to beat.

I do suspect, however, that he wants to be on Dana's "good side" and may do what he feels for next time.
Dana loves it, he thought he won 4 10-8s lol

So Arman is to khamzat, what greg Jackson was to gsp...?

Thats great...
