Parrots in here are embarrassing. No matter what Ariel says, they clown him. They feel so threatened by such a small man lol.

He is 100% right with this take. Throw in Chael too and there hasn’t been anyone who can duplicate how good he and Conor were at the trash talk. These new guys might be alright at the start like Colby, but it’s so forced that it’s cringe now.
 
Everything he said is correct.

Unfortunately the blame lands at the feet of us fans as a whole. We are more interested in any fight that two guys don't like each other, they shit talk, throw punches at press conferences, etc etc. Anything that gets attention feeds fans desire to watch. Just being great only goes so far in today's world and if your just really good you need all this other shit to get people to care.

Leon is perfect example of someone just doing nothing to get fans to care outside of his performance in the cage. All he needed to say after the last fight was Belal, Burns are cake walks. Shavakat talk to me when a beat few more top guys. I'm best WW to ever do this and anyone that steps up next will find that out, blah blah blah. Instead he kind just blows things off/diffuse and nobody even cares or notices. He needs to take a page out of Cruz's playbook of trash talking. He was classy about it, but just jabbing the shit out opponents in the war of words.

because pro wrestling is fucking stupid. i dont watch it and i havent since i was maybe 6 years old.
thats why i watch actual fighting. not spandex pseudo theater. if other people like pro wrestling, great, good yeah whatever. but i watch MMA, boxing, etc for the FIGHTING not for stupid TMZ drama.

I used to think the same as you do now until i realised mma and PW have more in common then i thought.

I have kids now and my son loves watching both wwe and aew with me. I enjoy PW now and like to watch it with the family and even with friends just to get a good laugh out of it.
 
A poorly constructed argument to make a valid point.

Conor didn't remotely invent trash talk or pro wrestling-style promotion so starting with him as the premise was sensationalist clickbait which undermines his point.

He should have just pointed out that for every mouth-breathing halfwit that you appeal to by talking about abuse or dead relatives, you turn away a bunch of normal people and potentially advertisers/networks with them.

they do have quite a bit in common, thats true. and of course Sakuraba is a bad motherfucker and always will be. i just cant take the tryhard feeling of it, the exaggeration, the poor acting, etc. i guess if you wanna sit around and laugh about how dumb it is, i can get that. not for me though.

The fact that we actually got Poirier/Gaethje for the BMF belt still amazes me. Two guys who don't do any trash talking or showy nonsense, but absolutely bring it in the cage. Let's get some more recognition for matchups like that.
