I think women's MMA won't ever get a fair shake, and to be honest a lot of it has to do with sexism.

I understand when WMMA was new and it was a judoka with no stand up skills whipping girls with the same trick over and over again within a few seconds... yea, WMMA was a bit of a joke then.

But the division(s) have come a long way since then.

The Raquel Pennington / Amanda Nunes fight last night was exciting. It was a bloody brawl that ended with one of the women losing damn-near a pint of blood out of her broken nose and people STILL wanna say it's a snooze fest.

We have a post with someone crying that the women's championship fight was a headliner and not the Machida - Belfort fight. Really? a championship fight shouldn't take priority over some past-their prime (though legendary) non-title fight just because they're women? Seriously?

A lot of WMMA fights are exciting. Obviously there are some snoozefest WMMA fights, but there are also some boring men's fights too.

The odd thing is I'm about as anti-white-knight as you can get, but I gotta speak the truth where I see it.

I really don't thinks so but there are people who just shit on it like no shit show.!

Inferior product pushed higher than it's actual quality value, because american media marketing

Nothing against it though, i watch free streaming stuff so i can pick and can't complain

Will likely have bothered me if i was somebody that pay PPV

People are biased against shit fighters getting the UFC spotlight.

99% of the woman fit into that category of shit fighters along with CM Punk.

WMMA is bad and just isn't UFC level. A "13 year boxing pro" got dropped by an eyes closed wild haymaker from a fat jiu jitsu girl lol

You think Nunes, Cyborg, Rose Namajunas fall in that category?

Of course. Goes without saying.

They're women for crying out loud.

Men are innately intimidated by powerful women. It's an inferiority complex. Just knowing that these woman could beat you up. And some men find it sexy. It can be conflicting. Truth is, Cyborg could beat DJ and probably that whole MFW division. The Straw weight division is more exciting and more stacked and competitive than most of the men's divisions. And the Women's Fly weight division is progressing immensely

To be fair, that Bader ko was an eyes closed hope for the best shot too.

Nunes avarge fighter in shit division, Namajunas unproven in her own division, Cyborg fighting in ghost division.

Biased towards a gap in athleticism and skill. The talent pool just isn't deep enough in WMMA to offer us a consistent, pleasing to watch, and competitive sport.

People talk just as much shit on guys that don't really belong in the UFC or show huge holes in their game that make them easy targets.

The problem is the skill level drop off

Girls like Amanda Nunes/Holly Holm/Cyborg/Rousey/Joanna/Rose/Andrade are all good and people enjoy them, but then you have the Jessica Eye's and the Bethe Correia's and Amanda Cooper's all ranked too....

I enjoy both but you can’t deny that a larger percentage of WMMA is pretty poor and not to the highest standard of UFC.

I think DJ could beat a lot of male FWs so if Cyborg could do that she would be better than most male FWs lol. I mean, would you really pick current Barao who fought for a bit at FW over DJ?

DJ is THAT good!

ABC isn't ranked...

Some women's MMA interests me and most doesn't.

Miesha winning the title from Holly Holmes was one of my favourite moments in MMA, just because of the sheer willpower on display. I've never seen someone want something more than she did in that moment.

It was such a thin thread. If she'd wanted it even slightly less, or if she wavered in her effort even a little bit - I don't think she'd have gotten that critical takedown.

Do you berate basketball fans for not watching WNBA?

In no other sport do you get a subsection of fans calling you names just because you have no interest in watching the female version of it. WMMA fans really are complete weirdos.

Absolutely agree. Most WMMA haters have already decided they don't like it and any fight they watch is seen through that lens. Some WMMA fights are shitty. Most of them are not.

Yes, people are biased against it. And rightfully so. There's only 2 female fighters that are exciting to watch.
