Are folks still as convinced that Jones EASILY beats DC again?

I will be the first to acknowledge that Bones DEFINITELY displayed ring rust last night. He appeared 'off' to me.

This would be logical due to a long lay-off, and I wouldn't rule out even some level of mental focus not being 100%, due to all of the distractions / legal stuff he has been going through.

That being said, I have seen pretty much a general meme going around sherdog in the past couple of months, claiming that "uber Jones" was going to absolutely wreck DC in the rematch, and make it look easy.

I'm curious if after last night, any of the folks subscribing to this meme may have shifted their certainty of such a one-sided, easy victory of Jon over Cormier?

I think that Jones will for sure be sharper than he was last night at 200 if he and DC square off, but I DO think that the rematch will be even closer than the first fight, and I do think that DC could potentially be the first man to defeat Jones at this stage of his career.

Weigh in - Did your overall view of how the rematch will go change based on what we saw last night? Or do you still feel Jones easily beats Cormier?

Last night's Jones loses to DC.

We'll see which Jones shows up though.

I believe Jones will beat DC again, yes.

Discussing hypothetical scenarios is pointless. Jones might have looked better considering he was preparing for DC and has probably been obsessing over that fight for a year.

If you get convinced by anything after last nights performance after a year lay off, then i would like to convince you about the good price I have on a bridge I just so happen to own.

This all day friend. Just posted about this. Last night Jon would of been absolutely dominated in the octagon..

I think DC is more adjusted to making 205 this time as well. He did gas out last fight, it was close before that. You can make the "jones gassed him" argument but my point is the same.

Def ring rust, I think the added size and subsequent weight cut effected his cardio. He looked like he got tired faster to me.
Last night DC could have beaten him, he misses his golden opportunity.

Styles make fights, MMA fans are showing how dumb they are.

For example lets take boxing, styles can make a a B level fighter like Maidana give Mayweather some trouble, while a fighter way better than Maidana like Manny give Floyd no problem. Styles.

Shut up dummy, most of us here know that and have seen enough fights to realize if it was a difference in fight styles or a guy coming off s long lay off.

First time Jon and Cormier met in the cage Cormier wasn't a 5 round fighter and still stayed in good boxing distance of Jon and stuck with him as long as he could. He did a good job of everything he had at the time. A few 5 round fights later, more weight to his knowledge of championship fights and I still see Cormier beating Jones last night. He got tired quicker, he used the same style he always has. If it isn't broken don't fix it I can understand.. but Cormier kept up decently the first fight.. add the fact of Jon's obvious ring rust and crappy cardio later and we have a #andstill all over social media. Cormier would of been the better man last night and beat Jon. Sorry but the switch to OSP had nothing to do with how terrible the former champ was last night.

So the comment is not directed towards you dummy. Its all those dumb asses making comparisons about completely different style of fighters.

Dana white- "things worked out for jones tonight cause if dc was in the octagon with him tonight, it would have been a rough night for jones" i agree with dana, and i think the rematch is close given that uber jones doesn't exist and you are born with one shot power.

DC didnt get tired on his own, it was body shots that broke DC down.

Either Jones beats DC. DC is a year older, more injured and not as good as Jones. Jones slays DC again.

Yeah, and I couldn't see him delivering much past the 2nd round on Cormier. Just admit your GOAT wasn't the GOAT last night. He would of been Cormier's bitch last night. Plain and simple. Maybe when they possibly meet at 200 (as rumored) he will be a little more well equip.. but right now, he isn't going to be champ again.

I still think Jones has the edge, but DC is a hell of a fighter. He may only lose to a fighter named Jon Jones over his entire career. Who knows if Jon would have fought the same had DC been across the cage from him last night? He may have been conservative because of time off and because of the attributes that a fighter like OSP brings to the cage. I can't wait to see it again, regardless of the outcome.

Jones was in the cage last night. DC was watching from the sidelines.

Speculate all you want but Jones made it to fight night and fought a completely different guy in OSP. Jones worked the obliques, worked the body attack, and manhandled a much larger fighter than DC. I haven't seen anything in DC that makes me think he could beat any version of Jon Jones.

what in the first fight gave you any thought that dc could beat Jones? if DC was in there last night it would have been the same result. Also, give OSP some credit.

Most people on this site can barely spell MMA.
