"Apples to Apples" comparison, do you think Nate could beat #5 ranked MW Lyoto (in prime) Machida?

Didn't think so.

Give credit where it's due, Conor did fairly well against a much bigger man that he only had ten days to prepare for, but more importantly, he showed the heart of a real champion, one who does not shy away from a challenge.

For this, he's earned my respect, something I do not hand out to freely.

Don't tell us to give credit when McGregor was spending the credit he hadn't earned yet.

Your comparison only works if Machida was moving up to 185 from 170 smarty pants....

Uhhhhhhhhh what? Do you seriously think the size difference between Conor and Diaz is similar to the size difference of Machida and Diaz? Not to mention theyre completely two different types of fighters. Basically this thread is retarded and I low key hope you get into a car accident the next time you drive, TS.

"he showed the heart of a real champion"
He tap pretty quickly if you ask me.
heart probably isn't is strongest asset.

brave champ tapped so fast tho

I give respect to Conor for this fight.

But your post is SO wrong on so many levels TS. What the hell are you smoking?

Tapping quickly doesnt show a lack of heart. The choke was in and there was no way out. He knew it was over.

Does someone who joined in 2012 really not know that Nate fights at LW. How come no one is treating Nate like a hero for stepping up a weight class and fighting on 10 days notice without a camp?

Purely from the go up a weight class and fight the #5 guy there aspect is TS's argument.

It's true though. Diaz would get smoked by Lyoto.

Insert random middleweight would probably get destroyed by Gustafsson (or whoever is #5 lhw), etc

Weight classes exist for a reason.

He quit as soon as he shot in. He got hurt at his game quit by the easiest means possible. Not trying to bash but that's how I saw it.

Ahahaha...the fanboys came up with something...Nate never said he will fight at MW or he can beat MWs....Conor said weight doesn't matter...

Piss poor comparison for a multitude of reasons. All of which you should be smart enough to grasp without having them explained to you.

nate isnt 2 weightclasses higher. hes a 155er. thats why hes not ranked at welter.

Conor got bitch slapped by someone his own size.

You're right, tapping quickly doesn't show a lack of heart.

But shooting for a TD when you've been wobbled by a low powered Nate Diaz, knowing full well that you will probably be submitted, shows a lack of heart.

Conor basically asked Nate to end the fight when he took a few punches.

Your apples to apples is flawed. If you want to make an apples to apples comparison you would ask "Could Nate beat Johny Hendricks at 180lbs on ten days notice?"

The answer is no, because Hendricks would never be able to make 180lbs on 10 days notice.

Conor picked Nate. Conor called him the fattest skinny guy he'd ever seen, said he's beaten bigger men, size makes no difference, and everyone he was training with was 180-200lbs easy.

What?? That comparison makes no sense at all, just because Nate has fought at WW in the past does not mean he is suddenly "the much bigger man". Conor fans need to stop kidding themselves, he faced someone who is very comparable in size, Nate and Conor realistically should both be fighting in the LW division.

Conor was far from horrible, but he lost get over it. Now he can go back to draining himself at FW....where he IS the much bigger man over the rest of the division.
