Is this something I want that I currently don't realize I want?

I use a Casio G-Shock, and sometimes bump it against hard surfaces and get it wet while washing hands. I like the solar powered ones, so I don't have to worry as much about changing batteries and replacing the water proof seal.

I read some people turn a iPod Nano into a watch by adding a watch band. How would I want to use a iWatch? Would it be rugged like G-Shock? Waterproof? Calculator? Solar power? Calendar w/appointment tracking/reminders? Shopping lists? I'm assuming it'd have iPod music functionality. Step counter? Would the battery need charging regularly like cell phones?

You guys remember the tattoo artist that put magnets under his skin for the ipod nano?

Read this by ex-Apple employee #66, Bruce Tognazzini (aka Tog), who is something of a god in human-computer interface design circles.

TL;DR
Likely to be an accessory to your iPhone
Charging will likely be wireless.

It certainly won't be as rugged as your G-Shock. MP3 players aren't meant to be beat up like a sports watch.

To me, they seem kind of like a novelty thing. All they are is the latest model Nano with a strap, so it has all the same functions that a Nano would have (no solar charge, not waterproof, no :eek::eek::eek:meter to my knowledge). It will also charge like an Nano, and need it fairly frequently since the screen uses more power than anything else.

You got a smartphone, right? Use that for your calendar/music/everything else.

Just looked it up and that shit looks corny as fuck, would never wear something like that.

Get the latest iPod and you will be fine.

Stick with the G-Shock, I have one and have had it for a few years now and love it. Shit has fallen in the tub, fell off the dresser, and been banged up a bit and still works wonders. Fucking love that its uses atomic time keeping as well :D

There's something appealing about wearing a portable computer/cellphone on your wrist. I've seen people put their phone down on a counter, then forget and walk off.

From what I understand it isn't a stand alone product, you'll have to have it tethered via bluetooth to a smart device. Pretty much all it does is show what's on your cell phone screen when someone calls, texts, etc without having to pull your phone out of your pocket. If they kept it around the $100 range it wouldn't be bad, but being Apple it will probably be $200+

The iPod Nano watch is pretty worthless because the battery doesn't last very long. A watch I have to recharge every night is pointless to me. The Nano is not very durable, the screens crack easily. It's also lcd screen, so you won't be able to see it in direct sunlight.

The Pebble watch is interesting since it uses e-ink and has a pretty respectable battery life. But my understanding it requires a blue tooth smart phone to use most of it's main features. It is water resistant to the point where you can shower and swim with it on.

With their stock trading 35% below it's peak, they're hoping people will buy anything they slap an Apple logo on.

Still makes me laugh.

idiot apple fan boys

Upon first glance I thought, this is stupid.

I couldn't help thinking that it's actually kinda cool and I would do that. It's body modification that's borderline cyborg instead of just aesthetic. Even though I realize it's still primarily aesthetic, it does actually serve a purpose.

Looks like Apple is taking taking the idea that their products as status accessories a little too far.

A lot of people posting did not read this. It suddenly looks like a great idea to me.

Should tell you a lot about the knee-jerk Apple haters in this thread.

There's just as much sheep as the Apple fans.
