i saw Donald Trump condemned Apple on TV. Made me realize I don't know what side is what.

I don't think it is conservative or liberal. I feel it is technical and an analysis of downstream consequences. I can see liberals agreeing and disagreeing as well as conservatives.

Trying to decide if somethings are liberal or conservative I think is often a mistake. It's like, "I don't know what I think about this, I will just see what side it falls on.

USA basically asked for a masterkey to open any iphone they want. Apple refused. Im with Apple on this one.

Tough question. The powers that be will have to get together and decide which one each should back.

i meant as in congress. i dont know what the republicans will stand behind or what the democrats will stand behind. We have a two party system, one of them is bound to pick side right? Unless they have a bipartisan agreement

I think Republicans and Democrats will both be divided on it. What could happen is some would wait and see what the party leaders think but I don't see this so much as a republican democrat thing.

You have conflicting things here.

1. Catching bad guys. Both are going to be in favor of that.
2. Forcing a business to do the work of writing code. We don't normal force people to work unless they have been found guilty of a crime.
3. Down stream effects of personal privacy. Both parties have protected in and both parties have eroded it.

Everything will have to be weighed and I don't think all Democrats are going to agree with each other nor will all Republicans agree with each other.

I'm still trying to figure out if thin crust pepperoni pizza is conservative or not.

Pepperoni on pizza has been around for a long time and might be conservative since it is not a change. Thin crust pizza is not the oldest form nor is deep dish. Was thin crust a progressive move or is it old enough where it isn't?

It's a tough question for conservatives because the values of social order and economic liberty are at conflict. They tend to value both of those highly, and want to say no on grounds of economic liberty but yes on grounds of order. For liberals, they should generally say no because they value liberty in the social order, but be more neutral on the issue of economic liberty in this instance. Libertarians should tend to oppose the government outright, and the more totalitarian types should obviously love the government intervention here. There is also going to be a general leniency granted to the government by all on the basis of crisis management. On balance I'd expect about 60 percent of people to oppose the government here.

Conservative: Cut taxes for Apple's financiers, make it a condition for any business buying Apple products that it implement workplace Constitutional Carry, and get rid of unemployment insurance for laid off Apple employees

Liberal: Force Apple to have a transgender hiring quota, and force Apple employees to buy Apple's health insurance

Conservative: Keep the hands of Big Government off of Apple and their technology!

*** Except in this case, where since it's terrorism related, it is absolutely necessary to force a private company to bend to the will of the Gov.

Liberal: It's everyone's right to privacy on their own phone, which is private property, so Apple shouldn't have to unlock the phone!
