apparently alistair overeem injured jones in training

Reem NEEDS to be around 245lbs. He's gonna be best at that weight. He needed to drop the excess muscle for cardio. If he's got cardio and fights with a gameplan like he did with Mur, the Heaveyweights have something to worry about, minus Cain.

you can be a world beater in the gym if you have a glass jaw at 205 your not gonna do well at heavy, he will never be a title threat

Overeem beat MIR ten times worse than DC.
Overeem >>>> DC

in future mma math calculations, please distinguise between Overeem and Ubereem. They are basically two different men.

"Alistair’s maybe 240, Jon’s 220. It’s not like he was working with a giant moose. It was just one of those things."

... alistair is 240??? wow that is light. he is shrinking big time

Not really. Dude has never been one of the truly massive heavyweights like Brock or Bigfoot, who cut to 265 lbs from the 280s. He typically weighs in around the high 250s, wearing his shoes, jeans and a heavy belt. Minus all that, he's probably about 250 lbs.

Take Jackson's "Alistair's maybe 240" and put it up to 245ish lbs, and you've not got any shrinkage worth talking about. In fact, it's about what we should expect, with extra cardio work stripping a few more per cent off his body fat.

Unbelievable. month and a half before his title fight, he's letting a top hw try to take him down.

Which is exactly what he should be doing. Obviously you've never trained for a full contact fight.

He typically weighs in around the high 250s.
Typically yes.
But he had to cut weight to make 265 for the Brawk fight.
Said so in a pre-fight interview.

So he got up to a solid 275 (give or take 5lb) just before he got popped for high T.
There's definitely been a steady shrinkage since then.

Overeem is a champion wrestler and short. Makes sense that these two would be paired up for a Cormier fight.

That's bull; the guy knows he has a reputation as this gigantic, hulking killer and is just trying to live up to it for psychological purposes.

He did weigh in heavier than normal for Brock, at 263 lbs, but was, again, wearing shoes, jeans and a thick belt.

There's absolutely no way he was cutting from 275 lbs. You don't cut from 275 lbs and then end up three pounds under the maximum allowable limit (266 lbs) while still wearing heavy street clothes.

Nah, Cain ruined him after those beatings. He will not be the same monster he was, mark my words.

It's funny because Reem's notable for folding under huge beatings throughout his career.

If Jones can't even defend a takedown from a middling HW like Overeem, how's he going to defend takedowns from a top HW and wrestling prodigy like Cormier?

I've heard a few stories about Overeem injuring people or knocking out people who had upcoming fights from people who trained at Golden Glory. Apparently, he gets unsafe in sparring if his ego get hurt.

Sorry, not listing sources. Take from it what you want.

It wouldn't surprise me one bit, and i don't think it is that unusual from pro fighters to go abit hard when they get hit hard. I think alot of pro fighters have big egos otherwise they wouldn't be where they are, that being said i'm sure most can control themselves and some (maybe Alistair i don't know) can snap pretty easily in hard sparring sessions.

I've seen a few videos of him sparring in holland. I think one was at Mikes gym and he seems to go pretty hard in sparring so it doesn't really surprise me.

If Overeem is still fine after a 127 knockout losses I'm sure Junior will be alright.

The problem is because Overeem goes down much easier than JDS he's never taken the kind of sustained beatings Jnr did in those two matches(indeed probably more big shots to the head in those two than Allistairs entire career) although personally JDS does not strike me as someone who would lose it mentally, physically perhaps but just like Nog I don't think he'll ever become gunshy.

People have always underestimated Overeems wrestling, at 205 he was already very good, at HW I think he's probably the best wrestling non wrestler if you get my drift.

Confirmed, Jones would have lost to Overeem at heavyweight via injury.
