Just to be clear. i am not a taliban supporter. I think they are a vicious regime and need to be held accountable for their actions. However i am not naive enough to think they are gonna go away. They been there well before any of us were born and will still be there long after all of us are gone.

But what i dislike the most is mis-information. NY Post and Fox News both state the taliban have killed a woman in Takhar province just on tuesday just after taliban took power in the country for not a wearing a burqah. This is an absolute lie.

The woman was killed as she was in crossfire two years earlier between the afghan government and the taliban. She was an unfortunate casualty but its sick that news stations in the west would use her death and her alarming death photos as tools for their propaganda machine.

EDIT: THE ASSOCIATED PRESS ALSO REPORTED THIS LIE

Proof photo was taken in early 2019 and was a result of taliban and ANA conflict

I pray for the people of afghanistan. I hope the taliban can be reformed internally (very small chance i know). But that is the only way. You cannot rely on corrupt government official puppets who ran away to give your country a chance.

You forgot the part where they are citing The Associated Press for the killing ....

"according to The Associated Press. But a damning photo shows a woman in district Taloqan, Takhar province, lying in a pool of blood as her parents and others crouch around her, a pitcher on the ground nearby. She was shot and killed for going out without a burqa."

It's typical of them. They want to make the Taliban takeover as bad as humanely possible (don't get me wrong, it's fucking tragic), not because they care about the Afghan people, but because they feel it hurts Biden and the Democrats. That's it. These people live for the sole purpose of fighting the political war.

Yeah... this dumpster fire is going to make it even more difficult to get accurate news.
It's hard to completely avoid Western outlets, so just make sure to be aware of their attempts to feign reason and objectivity.

I imagine it'll be a horrorshow in Afghanistan - but that won't stop people from trying to make it sound even worse.

In times of chaos, like we are seeing, there is going to be mistakes made by the News orgs. The point is not to throw the baby out with the bath water and assume anything they report on is bogus because they made a mistake here or there.

Sensationalism runs the West.

At this point, I assume everything is exaggerated bullshit.

Real news died 40+ years ago.

My friend did a few tours in Afghanistan and has spoken to contacts who reckon Taliban are pulling females out of schools.

That country is fucked it's going back to the stone ages.

How dare somebody slander the good name of these religious terrorists.
I, for one, am appalled !

I’m not saying the press was right as I never even saw this story. But the proof that they are wrong you are using is a Twitter post that isn’t even in English? Am I missing something here?

it says the woman died from conflicts between afghan government and taliban. the post was made in feb 2019. news agencies are misappropriating her death photo to illustrate a false narrative of "she didnt wear a burqah and thats why she was killed" and make it as if it happened now to contradict what the new regime is saying in their press conference. basically they fucking lied. dont know how else to put it
