I'm not sure how accurate his statement is but I'm pretty certain that Japanese people can't live without worshipping a single person dubbed God. Their history is a proof.

Considering he never won the UFC title, I don't think Kyoji even closely ranks up against LWGP Gomi

In terms of historic achievements, not even close to Saku

In terms of challenging himself, nobody ranks higher than Tokoro and Minowa

Aoki is full of shit

Kazushi Sakuraba is the greatest Japanese MMA fighter, I give Takanori Gomi and Hidehiko Yoshida high regards also.

Not yet, but he's going to be. He's doing everything right and looking phenomenal.

LOL
Japans real GOAT handed him 2 losses...

He must be trolling

Nice of him to say that, but is highly debatable, given Horiguchi level of competition compared to someone lie Sakuraba.

Always humble Aoki, unwilling to admit that he himself is infact the Japanese GOAT.

If he's saying he's the best right now. Sure.

All-time? Sakuraba.

I don't think many realize that Kyoji already has a career worth of fights.

It really might be time to consider him among the JMMA greats.

Top 3 for sure. I'd love to see him against DJ again

In terms of fight record, I'd say even Yushin Okami has a good if not better resume than Kyoji.

Skill/talent wise he might be. He's only 27 years old, let's wait and see how the next few years play out. I don't think he ever becomes the kind of name that Sakuraba, KID, Mach, etc were though, unless maybe if he shocks everyone in his kickboxing foray

Probably not in terms of name unfortunately, but I do think there's an argument that Horiguchi's resume already surpasses Kid Yamamoto's.

Left is Kid's, right is Horiguchi's. We aren't very far off.

I had no idea who Horiguchi was Before RIZIN

I still have no idea what the hype is about..he is about the same height and weight as a junior high school girl (In a proper meat eating country, Ie not Asia)

Aoki on the other hand needs to take his meds that guy is mentally Ill even worse than Ishii and I have no idea why society still tolerates him..

Best Japanese fighter for my money ? Maeda and maybe Akiyama...the rest don't make me laugh at all..most disliked fighter? The whole Yamamoto clan and Aoki

You could eat all the meat in the world and Horiguchi would flatline you in 10 seconds or less buddeh.

That's an interesting comparison. Kyoji beat better quality opposition but never went out of his weight class.

KID's rep is based on him being a jacked up FW knocking out LWs and WWs in the Hero's tourney. FW was non existent in those days.

I'd call them about even record wise although Kyoji will probably never reach KID's level of domestic popularity.

Kid's history verse bigger fighters is historic, but Kyoji also deserves credit for moving up in weight.

As a flyweight he just recently won a bantamweight grand prix that had featherweights in it.
