Anyone use an espresso machine?

Just got an espresso machine for my office for no real reason. Anyone else have one? How do you make it? Straight up? Double? Americano?
 
How do you usually make it? I'm an espresso newb.

Super easy.

It basically screws in half, and you fill the bottom with water, and there's a little cup thing for the coffee that goes inside.

Put it on the stove for a minute or so, and you're all set.

Mine is a pod thing. It's easy to make it. Just wondering how you make it.

Yea, I alternate between that and my Keurig.

I mostly use the Keurig out of convenience, but when I feel like actually "making" a nice caffeinated beverage, I'll use that guy.

I usually drink it black, but sometimes add a little stevia or raw sugar.

Got one of these awhile back for the wife. Seems sufficient to me, but she’s kind of a coffee pro and has her eyes on a higher end machine now.
 
Depends what mood I'm in. I get a double in the morning, sometimes a hot or cold Americano. If it's a rough morning, then lots of chocolate syrup, a little half n half, then everything over ice.
 


I have a Jura Bean to Cup machine, its swiss made and I consider Jura to be the pinnacle of automatic espresso machines. It's wifi enabled so my GF can order up me my morning coffee with her phone without climbing off me. If you have a lesser brand you are a poor person and I refuse to interact with the poor online.

I also use a cafetiere sometimes too. We like to store our beans in a copper can with some vanilla pods.

The amount of testosterone in this description is fucking amazing.
 
one of the most important yet overlooked variables to good espresso is the grinder.

You can't make good espresso without a certain level of quality fresh grind no matter your machine.

I don't recommend anything less than this grinder as the entry level into good espresso as far as grinders go.

Looks good, bud. But you can also get a much cheaper manual grinder that you can easily use for many different kinds of coarseness that are suited for many types of coffee. But it does obviously take more effort.

It's kinda ingenious the way their milk frother works. It's just a magnet with a serrated plastic piece inside, no motor required.

Doesn't taste like real espresso but it's a reasonable facsimile.

I use a moka pot/stovetop espresso. Its been the go-to for italians at home for many years, so I think it's fine for me. I really enjoy a good coffee from a shop with a proper espresso machine, but that gets expensive.

My brother-in-law had one of those Jura machines. The coffee was awful. The pods for the Kuerig and Nespresso machines are just awful coffee too, and insanely irresponsible environmentally.

I don't think it's difficult to make good coffee, whatever method you prefer, if you get good beans and are willing to spend a minute at it - rather than just pushing a button.

I hate hate hate the trend for light roast fruity and acidic coffee.
 
i used to be a manager at a movie theater and occasionally i had to run the coffee area while my employee was on break. People would come up and order 2 shots of decaff espresso.

I always wanted to say "THEN WHATS THE FUCKING POINT WHY DONT YOU JUST GO BUY A SODA!"
