Anyone seen Devil? And whatever happened to M. Night's "Night Chronicles"?

From the mind of M. Night Shyamalan, bitches!

Yeah, so last night I watched Devil. I had seen it before but thought I would give it another look since it's been a while and it's a very brisk 80 minutes long.

I think this is a solid movie. Not a classic by any means, but a solid 7, above-average kind of thriller.

But here's the thing, at the very beginning of the movie the words "The Night Chronicles" come up on the screen followed by a "1".

As I'm sure some of you know, this film was based on a story idea from M. Night but it was actually directed by John Dowdle. And supposedly there were going to be more of these Night Chronicles--movies based on M. Night's ideas but handed off to other directors--and the last thing I heard was that the next film in the series was supposed to be called Reincarnate and would be filming in 2013. Obviously we never got that film.

That's a shame because I really like the whole "Night Chronicles" idea and think it could work. Let M. Night put most of his energy into making movies about the stories he's most excited about, but let him hand off some of the other ideas that are rolling around in his head to other directors who are young but show talent.

Anyone else seen Devil? Thoughts on it? Anyone heard anything else about the future of the Night Chronicles or know if the idea has been officially abandoned?

I loved Devil. One of a few movies I've watched sporadically.

I've seen Devil...never looked at Doug's mom from King of Queens the same after that.

Devil is a highly underrated movie
and surprisingly tenseful given the plot/setting of the film

It's what say Phone Booth could've been
