Anyone have any idea when he's fighting next? Maybe he's out with some bad injury and I missed it, I did some googling and couldn't come up with anything as far as upcoming fights or anything. This guy is definitely one of my favourite prospects in the game right now and his fight with Holohan was one of my favourites of 2015. So many sick grappling exchanges. Louis has a very exciting style and a great fighting spirit, how far do you guys think he can go? Who should he fight next? He obviously would get worked if he stepped in there with MM right about now but I would like to see him get a top 10 fight...not sure where he's officially ranked at currently though. Maybe there are some Hawaiian bros on here who have an idea of what he's up to. Any ideas for good matchups?

I was hoping to see the UFC feed him to young Pettis, give him somebody in the top 15 next but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

After the Holohan fight I recall him wanting to take time off because his kid was supposed to be born around December or something like that. No idea if he got injured around that time as well or still taking time off or what. He's very fun to watch

Probably hiding from Mighty Mouse. Everyone at 125 should just retire so we can get rid of that shallow ass division. Make Mighty Mouse permanent HOF champ and call it a day

Smolka is a very exciting young fight. Hope he gets back in the cage soon.

Hahaha, are you joking? Let's see him beat a top 15 guy before we start that nonsense.

No he's not joking, I'd favor Smolka too. Pettis has a slight edge on the feet, but he's in a world of hurt on the ground with Smolka on top.

It's only as shallow as the UFC makes it. There are at least six guys on the outside who are UFC ready but they haven't signed a flyweight since Geane Herrera which was like 8 months ago.

Yea him vs Sergio would be a really good idea. I definitely don't think that's an easy fight for him but I think he would pull it out.

A slight edge? He's far better on the feet, let's see Smolka beat a ranked guy first.

Saying he'd smoke Sergio is pretty dumb though. I feel like a lot of you missed Sergio's last fight or something. Not to use MMA math, but he dominated Caraiso who has a decision win over Smolka (which shouldn't have been split by the way). Having said that, there's no doubt Smolka has improved since that fight and a match with Sergio would be fun.

Sergio is too inconsistent, like I said I'd favor Smolka.
What's funny is that between their common opponent of Chris Cariaso, it was Smolka who went with some weird clinch fence fucking strategy that ultimately wound up losing him fight when he probably could have just raped Cariaso on the ground.

Yea, that's why I said him saying he'd smoke him was a bit of hyperbole. Sergio looks dynamic sometimes and underwhelming the next fight, while Smolka has seen gradual improvement. Its def a fight id like to see.

Learning curve and growing pains, he's seen improvement so I like his prospects.

Wanted smokla, holloway
& penn/gomi II UFC on the
island. I'm not hawaiian
whatsoever, but they are
some of my favorite fighters
in mma. Medeiros is exciting
too. I'd like to see smolka
against makovsky. Holohan
wasn't the best litmus test
for smolka's ability on the
ground

I forgot to watch his UFC Fight Pass main event before my Anderson/Bisping UFC Fight Pass subscription expired.

I've been wondering what's up with him as well. I think a fight with Fredy Serrano could be interesting. But he probably deserves a better opponent than that? Would it be to soon to match him up with a guy like uncle Creepy or Moraga? I wouldn't mind him fighting either Ortiz or Mackovsky either, those would be great tests for him. Maybe he gets either Scoggins or Nguyen next
