Anyone here have experience with Gabapentin?

its one of those '_______ had gallons of jizz pumped out of their stomach' urban legends. in my area it was stevie nicks, sometimes its edgar winter, sometimes its whoever. but the urban legend goes that the celebrity in question didnt snort coke, they had a roadie blow it up their ass with a straw.
Top notch stuff! Thanks! :D

Fleetwood Mac dude

The story of Fleetwood Mac’s Stevie Nicks employing a flunkie to blow cocaine up her bum with a straw proved so resilient she was forced to formally deny it in a 2001 magazine interview. “That’s absurd,” she said. “Maybe it came about because people knew I had such a big hole in my nose [from excessive cocaine use].”
That's some Ozzy Osbourne type of sh*t lol!

i told you. this shit affects people so drastically differently. there are people in my group that have no relief whatsoever from any of these and get their fucking brains knifed. luckily the medication has made my pain almost a nonissue but the side effects are serious shit.
Thanks man

There's a ton of different applications for this med. Doctors in the US like to try this med a lot, especially with the opioid epidemic and generally low side effects. This med can make you feel kinda drunk if you take too much before titrating up your dose and acclimating to it. I've read of pretty rough withdrawal symptoms for people that have taken it for a long time. I'm using it a bit since being off pain meds and rehabbing a shoulder surgery. It does help quite a bit with the nerve pain for me. The mechanism in the brain as I understand it is that it affects the calcium channels that go to the GABA receptors. These are important parts of the brain that regulate one's central nervous system. When you think of GABA receptors, think those that are affected by benzodiazepines like xanax and valium. I believe that if your body sends a nerve response while on gabapentin or its big brother lyrica, you will feel less than if it wasn't in your system.

That help at all?

i would just like to point out that the first serious conversation ive ever had on sherdog has already included: jizz, cocaine, and buttholes. good work my friends!

I have been prescribed 300mg of Gabapentin to deal with nerve issues resulting from herniations in my L4, L5, S1, and stenosis. The side effects are listed online and can vary from person to person. Because of where my injuries are and the purpose of it being to negate the nerves it tended to have an effect on my sex life.

It does help thanks. Can I ask what dose you're on and how long you've been using it?

Thanks, similar to the reason I would be taking it. Can I ask how long you have been taking it?

I have been taking it on and off for about two years. I only take it when I throw out my back. I stop taking it once it has healed to a point that I can bare the pain.

My wife's been taking it for about 8 years. She has trigeminal neuralgia and a form of MS (multiple sclerosis). It absolutely helps her.

As for side effects, as long as she doesn't miss a dose she doesn't have any (she has chronic fatigue, but she had that along with pain and other symptoms prior to diagnosis and starting any medication - since being on gaba there have been no new symptoms and the ones she had have lessened).

For her, when she has a flare up (usually proceeded by over exertion or stress) she ups her dosing of gaba and it does alleviate the severity. So her dosage can range from 1200mg to 1600mg per day.
Thanks for your input man

Thanks man, wish you the best dude

What would you be using it for? That's important to know, since doctors prescribe it off-label for a lot of things.

I have a prescription for it to help with anxiety and sleep issues. I'll take 300mg every half hour starting two hours before I'm ready to go to bed. Taking them one at a time helps with the absorption rate. If you take more than one at a time, the effects will be limited.

For this shoulder recovery, I just started yesterday. I've taken it in the past and studied up on how it works with the brain because I didn't want to get burned by it like I did with benzos in the past. Right now I'm rocking 300mg 2-3x/day. If you start off at 300mg, you'll feel at least slightly intoxicated I would imagine. That feeling goes away within 24-48 hours in my experience and many others on more dedicated forums with regards to this topic.

I'm starting on 100 mg just to break into it, then gradually move up to 300mg x 3 p/day. Appreciate your input man

I’ve taken it for over 4 years at 200mg. Only side effects I had were when I tried a higher dose, my ankles swelled.

It will be for nerve damage from back issues. Thanks for replying, it helps reading up on folks here as well as dedicated medical forums

That should be pretty safe. You'll be able to increase dosages pretty quickly as you acclimate. I personally don't want to take it for extended times as I've been through more than a couple rx withdrawals, but in the short term while I'm getting strength back in my 4 tear repaired shoulder, it helps so I'll use it as a crutch.

No problem. Happy to help.
