There's a ton of different applications for this med. Doctors in the US like to try this med a lot, especially with the opioid epidemic and generally low side effects. This med can make you feel kinda drunk if you take too much before titrating up your dose and acclimating to it. I've read of pretty rough withdrawal symptoms for people that have taken it for a long time. I'm using it a bit since being off pain meds and rehabbing a shoulder surgery. It does help quite a bit with the nerve pain for me. The mechanism in the brain as I understand it is that it affects the calcium channels that go to the GABA receptors. These are important parts of the brain that regulate one's central nervous system. When you think of GABA receptors, think those that are affected by benzodiazepines like xanax and valium. I believe that if your body sends a nerve response while on gabapentin or its big brother lyrica, you will feel less than if it wasn't in your system.
That help at all?
