I had an x-ray done yesterday and it's been found that I have "Severe bilateral hip arthritis. Arthritis score: Severe Arthritis (Tonnis 3). " which apparently is the worst you can have.

I put it down to an old tennis and dirt biking injury and being thrown off a few horses but I should be so bloody lucky.

If you or anyone you know has had it, what do you do for pain management? Don't suggest weed, now I don't have to worry about getting drug tested for a new job I'm going to be baking a shedload with it.

If you do know anyone, did they go in for a hip replacement? I have been referred to the orthopedic department so hopefully I can go and see them this week.

/cue the old hag jibes.

First thing I read when I logged into Kaiser this morning for my results was think of this. The Brits'll get it.

Vagisil is a cheap and easy fix

but it does suck. Maybe see a rheumatologist

It's an autoimmune disease despite what some research will say.......inflammatory response in the joints but what causes it is still in question.
Cushti! Got enough on my plate as it is without all this adding to it.

From everything I see carnivore diet is your friend
The very opposite from I've read.

Unrefined flour and rice is going to be a bitch and I eat a lot of rare or raw meat which isn't supposed to be TOO bad but only every now and again.

Do you like sugar?
I don't have a sweet tooth too much, and can deal without ice cream. I know they shove a ton of sugar in processed foods, but I don't eat much of that anyway other than cans of tomatoes. Thankfully I love cooking so I'll hopefully be able to adapt.

Most I know opt to replace troubled hips and shoulders. That’s a big pivot point to be experiencing pain. There likely won’t be one single thing that will provide miracle relief(other than drugs which mask). Cutting caffeine reduces sensitivity to pain, staying slim reduced load, and maintaining mobility through exercise can prevent further injury.

I'm limited with exercise which is screwing me up even more. Walking is supposed to help but the hobbling leads to so much exertion that I just want to sit down...I also pay the price for a 10 minute walk after.

I bit off more than I could chew darting around terminal to terminal at Heathrow trying to get a Covid test...it fucked me right up.

Joint replacement is your best option. I've had both knees replaced because of osteoarthritis eating away the cartilage. I know many people who have had hip replacements. They are getting much better at doing them. I have arthritis in my back now and there isn't much that can be done for that. I'm slowly losing control of my right leg.

Oh, man. I'm sorry to hear that <3
If they give me the option for a replacement I'll be well up for it. Start from scratch after the recovery period.

My friend has it in her hips and her hands. She receives a weekly shot of some biologic medication that she says gives her quite a few side effects but is also the only reason she can walk so she keeps taking it.

Okay, thank you. I'll take the side effects on the chin if I can walk properly again.

I have an appointment with the orthopedic department set up for March 7th. Really hoped it would be sooner. Till then I'm going to cook all the things I'm not supposed to and not leave the house.

Cut out caffeine, and all other inflammatory foods.
Have a fish oil tablet or two a day.
If there's an improvement you'll see it in about 6 months from the habit change.
