Anyone excited for the DOW 4k remaster?

I'm looking forward to it, mainly for the improved draw distance when you use a cam mod. I always found it way too zoomed in, but pulling it back with a mod looked terrible.

Do you play any of the big conversions, like Unification and Apocalypse? Apparently they should work with this definitive edition almost right out of the gate with a patch, as Relic has worked closely with modders.

Still one of the RTS goats! Hope this makes it better!

Nope, I haven't played the original in 10-15 years. I have about 300 hours on DOW2 though.

I tried to buy the originals in steam about 5 years ago but something was stuffed, mouse was out of sync and it was unplayable so I refunded it. So happy to be able to play it again in 4k... shame it's not ultra wide, but still going to look much better than the original.

Where did you see it confirmed to not have Ultrawide support?

The hud was always an issue with 16:9 monitors, even with mods. I haven't played the OG on my 21:9 monitor yet, but I understand it supported wider resolutions, just with a badly stretched 4:3 based hud. The text was also tiny if you used higher resolutions.

The trailer shows an improved interface for 4k and 16:9, so hopefully they are also natively supporting 21:9 and wider.

I’m looking forward to it. I haven’t played DOW since 2007 but would definitely love to jump back in.

Haven't done any PC gaming in ages, could be worth a crack.

Best RTS game EVER... the full remaster looks sick.

This is basically four games and 50-100 hours worth of content minimum, for what is apparently going to be released at $40 (probably USD, so maybe $60 AU).

Relic would have to really work hard to fuck this up... please don't let me regret saying that.

Sounds like a bargain. Fingers crossed 🤞

I haven't seen it confirmed to not support ultrawide... but in the interviews with the devs I've seen and the highlight vids etc, I've never seen a single mention if it being supported.

Even better, it's only $39.15 Australian... weird price but not complaining.

I’ll be getting it tonight. It was a great game when it came out. I think it will make me miss the sequel a lot though. IMO DOW2 is probably the best RTS out there.

I’m a lifelong Warhammer fan and played the table top games off an on most of my life so I’ll still love it

I would be pretty surprised if they didn’t. Most games do now. If it doesn’t a modded has probably already fixed that

Glad to say it does support ultrawide, according to people in the forums.

Looking at reviews, they let us pull the camera way back natively too now, such great news. It was too claustrophobic.

I'm planning on picking this up tonight as well. The price is already excellent but it's nice they give a 30% discount to anniversary owners.

I hope this sells well and they not only give DOW 2 the same treatment, but give us DOW4!!

40K has never had a bigger following.

I played the first five missions of the campaign last night and can say, it's really good, totally worth the cheap price.

I also saw a rumor that they were about to announce DOW4 at an upcoming event... but waiting on confirmation. Hopefully, they just listen to the fans and make a modern, updated DOW1 equivalent, not anything like the clusterfuck that was DOW3.

I really enjoyed the squad management feature that was added in 2. I think they also added the cover system right? Or maybe that was in 1 also

im holding out for Dow 2. me and you did some shit back in the day with that game.

Played for an hour or so, brought back so many great memories. Like many, this was my intro to 40k.

The lighting is definitely better, and the UI change is awesome. That 64 bit change is going to pay dividends in mods.

Playing it was like riding a bike after a long time, but with a steering wheel. My pinky is literally aching lol.

You can't rebind your keys, something you could do in the OG IIRC.

There's no WASD camera movement (no key rebind and this are my only gripes), have to use arrow keys (best option out of the box), or move your cursor to the edge of the screen. There's the middle mouse button click and drag to move the cam as well, but that never feels good to me.

If you want to rotate the camera in the default settings at least, you have to hold alt.

I prefer WASD to move the cam, the middle mouse click/hold to rotate it with the mouse, and scrolling for zoom.

I'm sure someone will mod that in so we can rebind from the options menu, but Relic also said they'll also look into it down the road.

Here's a work around for anyone jumping into it, going to try applying it after the UFC tonight.

It was in DOW1 as well but a more basic version of it.

I liked DOW2 nearly as much as DOW1. Brilliant game but highly under-rated by most.
