Anyone ever gotten a job as a bouncer?

I thought I'd help out a bar owner a few years back when I had just turned 21. She was just a friend of a friend and had their first band performance. I had never seen the bar, but when we got there I immediately regretted my decision. Shitty hole in the wall, and the bands were all "Hardcore" bands at the height of that shitty scene where you play loud aggressive music and grumble into a microphone unitelligibly. This band took the stage.....

About 10 minutes in all of the tables were broken and shit was flying everywhere, me and the 3 other guys bouncing were in all out fist fights just trying to survive, but inevitably getting our asses kicked. My night ended with my back up against a large almost "bay" window throwing for the fences, when one of the screamo pansies threw a chair from the outside and covered me in glass. I ran out the bar and got a kick into a car to dent the door before the cops showed up. We all got our asses kicked by like 25-30 dudes. I made 50 bucks that night.

Fuck that. Never again.

What a horrible song

You're in Boise.. being a very personal and even tempered, level headed guy and you probably wont have any issues. I love Boise, great place to live.

Ha! Yeah fuck that! Just walk away man, walk away.

Depends on your age and location.

When your in your early 20s, it's a great way to make extra cash, meet woman and have fun on the weekends. Plus, a lot of places give you a cut of the bar tips (plus tips from people trying to circumvent the line), so you can make decent coin for a couple of hours of work.

With that being said, it can also be really dangerous. At a certain point you just say, "You know what, fuck it, I have too much to lose trying to break up two drunk frat boys". If your at that point in your life, doing regular security work (at airports etc) might be more up your ally. A couple of my buddies do overnight security at a shipping yard, and get paid $25/hour to sit on their ass and watch youtube.

Thanks for the info man. Did you think he was actually innocent and just defending himself or was he acquitted due to lack of evidence or something like that. There were likely a lot of witnesses if he was a celebrity.

The original story from all of the victims friends was that the bouncer followed the guy out of the building and hit him over the back of the head, KO'ing him and he hit his head on the concrete too.

Not sure what changed or came to light in the end but as far as I know he is still boxing.

Just did some googlin'

"The security staff continued following the party for a short distance outside the hotel. In the altercation that followed one of the bouncers, Zdravko Mićević, punched Hookes. He fell to the ground, hitting his head in the process, and went into cardiac arrest.

Mićević was charged with manslaughter, but during the course of the trial witnesses gave conflicting testimony of what occurred and who started the fight.[13] The jury acquitted Mićević."
