I am so psyched. Going to a bachelor party with some friends next weekend. Landing 11am on Friday and coming home Sunday morning. Gonna be drunk the whole time. Staying near Bourban ST in the French Quarter. I went to Mardi Gras 20 years ago. Any advice going during non Mardi Gras?

1. Best Bars?
2. trip Clubs
3. Places to eat?
4. Do I need beads for titties if its not mardi gras?

Thanks Sherbros

Smells like garbage, don't wander off more than a block because you might get jacked up, watch our for people pissing all over themselves, food is meh, and plan to drink a bucket of rum mixed with orange juice and a cherry garnish.

If your idea of fun is being flashed by a 47 yr old housewife from Indianapolis, then Bourbon street is your place!

Well I don't mind 47 year old titties. Ill stick to Vodka or beer. And as for the pissing, when in Rome....

I'm not a huge drinker and I think part of the big appeal of bourbon street is walking around with liquor in hand while completely hammered out of your mind.

I recommend taking the street car to the Garden district and checking out Tulane University. TBH - the best time I've had in New Orleans was at a crawfish boil on Tulane's campus.

Ah, Tulane. The Harvard of Louisiana.

pretty well covers it but it was a good time

I know its a dirty tourist trap but Im ok with that for a night or two. I like an age range of chicks to talk to, as im no spring chicken. Food is 2ndary to the booze.

Jacque-imo's has the best food. They used to have a deep fried Po' boy that was probably 2500 cals on it's own. Basically a heart attack on a plate.

Yeah it's pretty blah and very dirty but worth an hour or two with your mates. New Orleans has an excellent WW 2 museum that is definitely worth your time. Also fun to ride the trolly around it's loop and check out the area.

If you enjoy cool old stuff, there are some great auction houses with wonderful and interesting items for sale. Often these houses have the stuff on display and then you can participate in the auction online at a later date.

Remember the city is build on a swamp and it looks and feels like it.

Yeah I think the Trolly sounds like an idea. I love WW2 stuff. Maybe early I can catch some of that. I get really good Cajun and P.O. boys by me so I won’t be heartbroken if I can’t find a good place. Would like some craw fish. I usually have a check list of chicks I wanna make out with. On this trip I would like a voodoo mama jama.

Stupid fucking post. Was down on Bourbon last night and had an absolute blast as I always do. Frenchman is more fun but Bourbon is more dense with more to see.

TS if you plan on getting smashed its fun, just wander in and out of bars until you find one you like. I take a bottle with me when I'm out and about. Saves a lot or money

Hit up St Charles during the day for the Blind Pelican happy hour. $3 a dozen oysters on the half shell.

The Irish Channel is always a blast and wander up and down Magazine. Hi up Beachbum Berry's for some incredible drinks as well. The one with five spice suspended in honey is amazing.

Forreal. I visited New Orleans a month ago and had a blast.

I perform here once a month and I'm moving here in July. I love this place.

Start at Canal, work your way to the river, take a left and walk to Frenchman, so much cool stuff to see and you meet rad people. Took some edibles with some Swedes last night and enjoyed some jazz and some late night fried chicken.

This and another +1 for Frenchman St, different vibe from the straight raunchiness of Bourbon but my favourite place to hang out when I was there.

Sorry if I've offended people.

I think everyone should check out New Orleans to find out whether it's something you like. I just think it's pretty limited and mostly revolves around being stupidly drunk.

FWIW -- I've found that a lot of people have the same view as me but are too embarrassed to say it for some reason. Like there is some expectation that if you don't think New Orleans is the bomb, then there is something wrong with you. I'm not shy about calling it what it is and I find once someone breaks the ice a lot of people will say, "ya, no thanks. Once is enough".

I can't imagine people going out of their way to go there for anything more than a night. The idea of a vacation trip to NOLA is preposterous, compared to Vegas, Miami, or NYC, for that kind of entertainment.

When I was there it was a lineup of dive bars. It hadn't rained for a few days and it reeked of puke and piss. Beggars, drunks, drug dealers and prostitutes everywhere. Combine that with the hot humid weather and I couldn't wait to leave. Maybe they've cleaned it up since then. It couldn't get any dirtier. I saw an episode of cops where they were arresting people for public urination during Mardi Gras. I found this article too where the city found out last year that some businesses had their sewers connected to the storm sewer instead of the sanitary sewer.

It's not hard to imagine what might make Bourbon Street smell so terrible on a hot day, or after a wild weekend: The most famous street in New Orleans is almost as well known for being fetid as it is for its debauchery, at least among locals.

But it took a major dig below Bourbon Street for city officials to discover what might have been exacerbating the smell. And if you've ever been exposed to the malodorous fog emanating from the notorious piece of kitchen equipment known as the grease trap, you might just end up believing that city officials' recent discovery was the primary source of Bourbon's funk.

Take a swamp tour while you're there.
It's pretty cool.

Bourbon St is like a poor mans Vegas, I had a blast when I was there.
