Would have been a guy who beat up MMA champions and walked away.

People would think he was the greatest and he could say he had nothing left to prove and TJ at MMA was a joke and no challenge to him.

He would have more money too if he just waited until the celebrity boxing craze took off.

He would be the lineal champ and everyone woul beg him to come back and he could say no.

Like a hot girl in school who never had sex with anyone.

Coming back and getting beat up kind of made him look weak.

Probably, because this is Conor's legacy now.

No one knowledgeable with respect to mma would think he was the greatest under those circumstances. He had some good wins but it wasn’t like he was undefeated, and he never defended any title he won. On top of that the money would be an issue too. I’m pretty sure Dana wouldn’t have let him just sail off into boxing while under contract so what you’re describing would basically just be him doing nothing for years and somehow not running out of money.

As much as the media and people continue to talk about Conor it's pretty obvious he still has at least a couple more big pay days should he return to combat sports.

I think he should have never left FW, its been a total disaster since he went to LW and WW, now he isn't fighting tiny teenage boy sizes, its proving very difficult, almost at can status

He couldn't even last 30 seconds with number 38 ranked UFC LW Joe Duffy, so it was all to be expected.

We all saw him lose to Nate so nah he would keep that aura.

conor created his legacy when he became double champ, everything else has been him on a retirement tour

Let's be real: the modern world would forget about him in under a year. He could invest money and play around being rich, but the MMA world would (and has) pass him by. With modern sensationalism (in journalism and society) we've got the attention-span of a gnat.

His “aura” was always fools gold to anyone that knows mma. Regardless if he walked away or not..

Fools gold? You don't know mma my friend. First simultaneous double champ and mad every mma guy want to duplicate what he accomplished. You're a fool bro, its ok

He's still beloved by around half of Sherdog tho.

would have happened eventually anyway but he got 100mil

In hindsight yes. But he wanted to go out on top and figured mma would be easy for him on his return. But he became stagnant after he got his pay day while others were still improving their games during his time away. Plus the whole Artem incident that Khabib did pulled him back into mma, even though him and Artem's friendship seemed to have fallen off since then.

He can still make the most of it though, it all depends how he comes back after his injuries. He'll either have a Rocky 3 moment, or he won't. I don't expect him to stay in mma if he loses. He may just fight out his contract, which is almost done, and do money fights in boxing after.

He would've kept his aura but made less money.

He wouldn't have done celebrity boxing. He would've faced a legit boxer and got flat lined in his next fight.

Conor and Jake are 2 different people. Conoy is a legit, respected fighter. Jake is a YouTube star turned boxer troll who knows one respects. Different markets.

Lol. Simultaneous champ? Flash knockout of Aldo who he never gave a rematch and never even defended that belt. Then a gift shot at the very beatable Eddie even though he didn’t have one fight at 155 in the ufc prior to the title shot. Like I said fools gold..

It was a mistake in the sense that Conor's brand would be in a better position today. Still, say what you will about Conor, he's always been a competitor. He could've sat on his tens or even hundreds of millions of dollars, but he wanted to come back and fight. I'm a proud Conor hater, but he's brave in that regard.
