Anyone else quit Reddit and movin back to forums?

I go on it sometimes to check news or if there is anything interesting on the BJJ/Judo subreddits. Reddit mostly makes me cringe. It is like a popularity contest with upvotes and whoever disagrees even slightly gets downvoted lmao. If you are against the agenda, then you should expect your messages to get thrown to the trash. Most of Reddit seems to be a haven for the far left. It is a cesspool of extreme liberals voicing their opinions to see who gets the most upvotes.
Fucking truth

The upvoting system is Reddit's greatest strength and their greatest weakness IMO.

There is value in the wisdom of the crowd. But for complex or nuanced topics the crowd is typically not willing to think that deeply, and they just ignore posts or down vote them because it doesn't fit their chosen side.

The interface sucks too though. And they try to spam you.

Also, there's no sense of community. Like here you have the same group of people, but every forum on Reddit feels like you're talking to people that you'll never hear from again.
Pretty much, this. I think it's alright to highlight posts that are doing well, but posts that are downvoted to hell shouldn't be hidden. The counter is right there, I can decide whether it's bullshit or if it just goes against the reddit dipshit hivemind.

Reddit has a culture where mods delete any post that doesn't strictly conform to what they want to an almost comical degree. Don't have a gay little "flare" on your post, you get deleted. The manifestation of the internets worst elements.

The most annoying thing about reddit is there's no real rules or order there. Any mod in any sub doesn't like something you said? Banned, no conversation and no system to dispute it. I found that out just posting casually in their gaming forums., I can't imagine trying to discuss anything serious there. You'd have to kiss so much ass not to get banned what's the point.

I'm grown, shit's like a big junior high school.

I’ve never posted on Reddit but their forum is super useful for specific topics. So I often read it when working on my car or doing something trades or yard related. Google also often takes me there when I search for specific topics related to these subjects.

However, the second I make the mistake and wonder out of those said topics it quickly reminds me how bitch made Reddit is. Although you’ll still sometimes see it creep into trades as well as I’ve seen a post where some guy was looking for a “LGBTQ friendly” tradesperson because the handyman that came over to fix his faucet was wearing a hat with an American flag and he didn’t feel comfortable with such a person in his home!

I went on reddit once and got banned from a sub so quick lol
Didn’t even post anything bad either, I guess I just wasn’t aligning with the “correct opinions”
I’ll still browse now and then a few subs on music or other hobbies
But don’t post and won’t go near any regular news or political subs

Wasn’t Epsteins chick a high up Mod on that site

Pretty much. I still use (can't post-banned) it to research stuff about work or hobbies.

Reddit was cool for super niche topics but quickly got infected with dumbass moderation. Its easily the most slanted and opiniated social media that parades itself as nutrual. I browse sometimes but don't dare post. Absolutely toxic. If you're stuck, get help getting out.

Sherdog much better.

I had one Reddit account nuked for dumb reasons but my new account is holding up. The key is to stay away from hot button reddits like politics, religion, anything to do with lgbt stuff (because even fairly middle of the road takes will get you strikes or ban), etc. I am a mod in one small reddit about a topic I am passionate about and I largely just stay in a few reddits.

I had even worse experiences on FB for a while when they only had automated review during c19. I got multiple week bans for absolutely nothing offensive. The algorithm was just tweaking and there was no human to review that a random normal picture wasn't something inappropriate or a technical/scientific explanation of something wasn't harassment or bullying. On the flip side many posts that I reported for blatant forms of racism went ignored.

Downvotes = upvotes on Reddit imo

And if you get banned, it’s further confirmation that whatever you said was right.
