Anyone else having a terrible cold/flu season?

I had this thing a week ago where I had every symptom of the flu except for the respiratory stuff. Insane body aches, every muscle hurt like hell, massive headaches, unbearable fatigue, cold sweats all day, feeling cold, spent almost all day in bed sleeping 10+ hours and taking Tylenol like a pregnant woman. However, I had no cough, no congestion, no sneezing, no phlegm, none of that. I'm doing OK now. Maybe it was just Super AIDS.

Meh this thread gave me the aids. Read this thread yesterday morning. Yesterday night started to get sore throat headache and general achiness. Can‘t sleep now.

If you start craving space travel and bananas, you've got the Space monkey AIDs........ Better not start craving swashbuckling adventures too, otherwise you've got the Space monkey pirate AIDs......

A few people ITT talking about starting a new job recently, or increased stress from young kids etc

Aside from diet and illness, the biggest effect on your immune system is stress, this is felt due to the relationship between your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems. Sympathetic is your fight or flight programming and the parasympathetic nervous system dictates your rest and digest. They balance each other when you are healthy, one can get stuck in fight or flight sympathetic nervous system energy

Currently I'm stimulating my vagus nerve to strengthen the parasympathetic nervous system. I started a thread about it. You guys with the increased stress can improve the situation. It's silly but even meditation, breathing techniques, cold plunge can all improve your parasympathetic systems tone. Like me you could just buy a thing to wear for half an hour daily to experience being super chill all the time.

Also I've noticed bad colds etc going around. Just getting over one that's lasted 3 weeks, didn't hit the kids but every teacher and parent got hit bad.

4th week since I had a terrible cold and pretty sure I've had 2 more since. My kids are at a big school and it's fuckn brutal!

Edit just heard that covid is ripping through the school, hitting the teachers worst. If I didn't have kids I'd never be ill! Fucking throat is sore as fuck.

Learn to wash your hands you filthy animal
I've turned into a germophobe after this one.

Just got sick again just a few weeks after getting over the last one.

Gonna turn into bubble boy.

I have kids that go to the germ factory 5 days a week. You can't stop the illness around winter time.
Two of us are getting over Strep throat right now.

I'm fine.

My missus gets battered by colds and flus all the time round this time of the year though....

Just gotten over it.

In the past when I've had a virus, it tends to be 24-36 hours where you you feel death is a better option, but after 3 days was back to normal.

This time was less intense but lasted 5 days and symptoms are still lingering a bit now.

Flu put me down on New Years Eve. I was on the toilet all day. Glad I had the day off

The next day I went to work because my stomach was feeling better. I was doing great and then realized I was running a fever and needed to go home. Should have just called out that morning.

I’m doing way better now. I get a cold here and there but I’m rarely that sick. Same sickness put down three of my volunteers in a row and none of us had contact with each other.

I think it’s that vaccine. (Puts on my tin foil hat)

You genuinely think the reason you picked up a virus now is because you took a vaccine 4 years ago?

Went to doctor and tested positive for Influenza A,

Its been rough to say the least.

Felt a mild cold coming on a few days ago, took a ice bath after a long day of work, probably the wrong thing to do, now im feeling sick and couldn’t enjoy wildcard games as I would e liked.
