My man is just a hard working lawn care specialist who is trying to follow his dream and make money as a pro athlete to provide for his family.

But then he gets the call to make weight on super short notice and then go in unprepared to a fight where he will be significantly overmatched physically and skill wise. He’s being set up to fail 100%.

And his thanks for doing it? 12k and a bunch of people making fun of him because he’s +1500 or whatever.

I appreciate you Val. You’re gonna get steamrolled, but so would most people in this situation. I have a lot of respect for you and hope one day you are a successful contender or own your own lawn care company.

It's an opportunity. For most of the people in the sport, it's the best you can hope for. I'm sure he is absolutely thrilled.

And, hey, if it doesn't work out.. he can at least say he reached the pinnacle of the sport.

I don't think things go his way on Saturday obviously but maybe in his next outing - which I'm sure he'll get - he'll make some noise.

He could always just turn down the fight and continue on with his lawn care business. Nice of Dana to provide him with this "opportunity" though.

Val is going to beat Bo and smoke on odd makers

CeeRod was supposed to get steamrolled too but he upset the peoples champ Raul Rosas Jr.

Bo Nickal at this point isn't quite a lock against anybody yet since Jamie Pickett seems to be his highest level opponent and he struggled and stalled out against the fence with his wrestling. I doubt Bo panics like Rosas but there's no way to know how he'll react to somebody who can stuff the shot

He’s already more successful than 95% of guys on here so he’s got that going for him.

Of course, but at the same time from interviews its clear he has that "just happy to be here" mentality so can't feel too bad for him.

But yeah, promotions and fighting are exploitive and chew up and spit out plenty of body's.

he's got a good point. It is an opportunity. Nobody chooses fighting as a career option. The very fortunate will succeed for various reasons, but the thousands who came before never will and end up broke, damaged physically forever, or just becoming nobodies.

So we should feel bad for every replacement?

Im happy for the guy. He seems confident and happy too. I just hope he doesn't get annihilated out there. I don't think he will

But if he ends up winning he’s basically changed his whole life. Or even if he makes it competitive he will gain more attention

Bo hasn't beaten anybody good. So who's to say he will beat this guy? It's crazy to me how high his odds are when he is so unproven. Yeah he can wrestle his ass off. Every fight starts on the feet. He had to give a low blow in the last fight.

dude is getting free facetime, and if he pulls off the upset it'll be huge for his career

jared gordon became a folk hero on these forums after the paddy fight

Almost like you take the loss, give up the 0, and maybe even miss weight, all that as an investment. Now you're in the UFC. And it's the second fight that actually really counts.

mmh don't remember him struggling that much though

Yep. I would be shocked if he gets cut after losing this weekend. He just is getting his foot in the door like so many others.
