Anyone else ever get a pain in their collar bone area after a set of dips?

I love this exercise as it has helped increase my bench but I am not sure how much my body loves it. Every time I do these, after my last rep I feel a pain in my collar bone area. I'm worried I may blow out my shoulder. Just wondering if anyone had a similar experience with these. Also if I should stop doing them what would be a good lift that is comparable to work the triceps?

sometimes if I lean too far forward I feel a weird sensation in that area. I just recently added Skullcrushers to my routine which has been good so far.

Yes I used to get that pain too. I cant even do dips anymore because of one of my wrists. Anyways, that pain usually meant a strained shoulder ligament for me. If I were you I would take a break on shoulder exercises for a little while until you can train without pain.

To your other question, close grip benches, skull crushers or overhead extensions would be fine replacement exercises. Be careful doing any of those while your shoulder girdle is inflamed though as it could make your recovery much slower.

i used to feel that when i did dips in middle school. I think at the time, the bars were too wide for my frame. I ended up popping something in my ribcage and to this day, there is something protruding from my chest on one side where the two sides of my ribs meet.

Yes, this happens when the dip bars are too wide for me. Turn the bars in (if you can) or use narrower bars. If this continues to hurt you, then find an alternative that doesnt hurt.

I used to get this. I broke both my collar bones when i was little, so i presumed that was why, but it could have been my shoulders i guess

I am thinking it may have something to do with my shoulders shrugging as I lower myself into the dip. I also can feel my shoulders staying real tense. What is a good way to correct this?

Try going not as wide, stay more upright and dont go so low that you stretch your sternum bone.

I know this is an old thread but glad I finally got on here and read it. Always trained through it. Thanks for the remedies guys
