They kept listing "distance head strikes" showing a crazy differential that was far from the truth. Forget what it was but each time they showed those stats they were lopsided af like 15-2 Silva or 20-1 Silva. Anybody with eyes could see Dober landing way more than that.

UFC stats has it 59-53 Dober for Total strikes with 55 being at distance..
and 37-29 Silva in total head strikes at distance.
Decided to go back and investigate and this is what they listed... 12-2 for Silva with 1:11 left in rd 1 and 25-7 with 1:51 left in rd 2... Lmao.
Screen shots attached... Enjoy. Also before anybody says anything, I'm not saying Dober was winning or anything, just stating how absurdly incorrect those stats were. So absurd infact that it couldn't possibly have been a mistake imo. Tinfoil hat conspiracy ik but how can you possibly be that wrong with the stats??

I've noticed a few fights lately where I see a crazy number during the fight and the stats later online are way different. I know it's hard, but if you can't get it right maybe don't show them. They affect everyone's view of the fight, even if the judges can't see them (I assume).

My thoughts exactly, if you're going to be that wrong why even show them?

I envy some of you for being able to think it's so crazy that people routinely fuck up things they get paid to do. Just wait until you start working for a living, you are gonna be absolutely flabbergasted.

The stats are not good. Not all significant strikes are created equal either. The best approach is to just pay attention to the fight itself. Some numbnuts the ufc hired doesn't know what strikes are significant on insignificant more than a sherdogger

I think they are counting on 80% of the audience being somewhat drunk at that point to notice :p

thats why these stats shouldnt really matter

imagine this fight somehow went to a decision and some shit ref say 'Oh, Dober landed a few more strikes' so he should win, which would be a complete bs

Groundstrikes shoul be separated.
Some little forearm palm slaps are counted as much as a stiff jab that staggers the opponent.

Their striking metrics has always been a joke. Especially the significant strikes. You shouldn't have 100+ significant strikes and not even come close to putting the opponent down.

I don't think stats can be taken even a little bit seriously anymore after the colossal failure that was Diaz / Masvidal compubox numbers.

Well compubox has always just been 2 old guys in a dimly lit motel room from what I've heard and they may or may not accept bribes lol. Diaz attempting 740 and Masvidal 654 is complete bullshit lol. Nate attempted way more than Masvidal and also landed a lot more than they listed.

They make shit up all the time. Stats are biased af, in close questionable decisions they will inflate the numbers for the guy who got the decision to avoid controversy

Never heard of distance strikes before, sounds like some malarkey

Ehh they were clearly framing it for Silva. Kind of dismissive to Dober, but I understood what those stats meant.

I kinda thought they were doing it that way so casuals would bet live and go "that dude landed more, bet on him."
