Sambo was a racist term. Like the original N-word. So I could understand if I mentioned it would make me seem cheeky.

Then again, we are now aware of the Russian sambo and the racist term has died down in modern time.

I am not sure but it caught me off guard when my sambo instructor was saying how they renamed it to cambo because it used to be a racist term in early America. Now its a forgotten term and so its fine to use it.
