Do you like soccer? Maybe someone here trains with a team or plays it professionally?

Its the only sport i like, although,i don't mind tennis and golf,so i watch the big events.

22 :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: running around a field playing grab arse. I'll pass.

Seriously though the thing I hate about football is the venomous atmosphere. I've been to hundreds if not thousands of games (down side of being born English). The hatred that flows between opposing fans is honestly sickening, I think a large majority of people that attend games do so only to shout abuse and generally be angry at the opposite team for 90 minutes. It's like the worlds shittiest anger management where people congregate for a couple of hours every Saturday to vent their anger and frustration of whatever shit life has thrown at them that week.

Huge football fan but I agree with this. And the earlier comment about footballers pansy behaviour on the pitch. In terms of the fans, it's a very working class sport and just attracts lots of angry, bitter men usually from pretty working class areas looking to take out their anger at the world for 90mins or so.

Behaviour of footballers - my mate is a rugby fan who hates footy and he summed it up with "football, the sport, is a really good sport - but footballers ruin it." He's right really, it even gets on my tits. Was never how we played as kids/teens, the last thing you wanted was to let an opponent know they'd hurt you during a tackle, you just bit down and got on with it.

Anyway, yeah I love it, played to a pretty high level until I was around 17/18 - got scouted/trials with three (at the time) Premier League sides but nothing came of it, and I slowly just stopped playing when I went to University.

Getting fired up now for the WC qualifiers this weekend. Must win for the US, and first big game under Bruce Arena. Injury depleted lineup, but it should be good.

Only during the world cup.

<{Ray3}>
Badr Hari is a huge fan also....

it's fun to play and I like watching it but I don't play it or watch it.

World and Euro cups only. Used to watch national championship and some matches from Spain and England, but got bored with it around the age of 18.
As for playing - it stopped around the age 16 - cause some of my friends played really good and were on a higher level and others didn't give a flying fuck about football.

For me my home team is my religion! Força Benfica!!!
Never got in any kind of physical altercation because of football but i love it!

Nah, I used to like it as a kid but I've grown out of it I guess. For me it's probably the worst of all the football codes. I'll still watch the odd game if my housemates are and there's beers etc. but generally not that fussed. Plus a lot of the players seeming like a bunch of overpaid primadonnas which annoys me.

Agreed. I can't get into the club play, but always cheer for the US...they don't cheat or dive, are always the underdog, and never quit. If you're American and have a soccer background, it's easy to get behind them.

It's the only ball sport I can really stand. Still only really watch during the world cup though

I like football, but it would be so much better if it weren't for the players and the fans.
