Now with Ngannou’s situation getting murky with the money aspect and Auntie Dana of course refusing to pay more than peanuts, what’s the deal with Stipe?

Should he really want a rematch, after that brutal KO, right away? Or should he take on one of the many contenders he somehow never fought while fighting DC 3 times over 2 years?

I say set up Stipe vs Gane and Rozencrack vs Lewis winner gets Stipe for the “interim” title.

Gane would most likely be favorite and would jab Stipe to a living death but It’s still an interesting fight and a good way to build Gane.

With that said, anyone think Stipe fights again anytime this year?

The guy's on the absolute tail end of his career and honestly, if he's set up financially and isn't hurting, I could see him walking away. I almost hope for that at this point. His speech is worrying, and even if he was always a little hard to understand the division is now full of young tanks with dynamite in their hands, or point fighters who will jab your brain around your skull for 25 minutes. Stipe has nothing left to prove, and is undersized and older compared to a lot of these dudes.

Throw in the fact that Dana's really fucking up the title picture with his latest hissy fit, and whether or not Stipe wants "stay busy" fights. Could be a long time from now, could be never.

Last news I read was him wanting to put on more weight for the next Frank fight. So probably is looking at that. He's been fine waiting in the past, like for DC, even when he fought Lewis in between. Long layoff upcoming now with Gane/Lewis and the winner facing Frank.

I'd hope for him to fight a contender, like maybe the winner of Rozy/Blaydes. But it's not like there's much incentive to do so, other than getting a win and shaking off the rust.

Stipe has a son due to be born late August. Last time his wife was preggers it was during the TUF season and fight camp for DC1, he had to leave her alone a lot and she couldn't come to his fight for the first time in ages and ages. I think he's hewing close to home for a while to make up for that. Especially since his Stipe-sized spawn will render her essentially incapacitated soon...

He's expressed himself confident in getting a rematch and is bulking up in prep for it, but the insistent chasing for one like during DC's reign hasn't been there. Most likely it's because he's confident Ngannou isn't going anywhere soon...unlike DC who had at the time vowed to retire in less than a year, and intended to get in a fight with Lesnar during the remaining months.

Stipe is currently bulking, and he will no doubt return when he gets offered a title shot.

Looking like the earliest is in 2022. He isn't taking anything besides a title fight. Ngannou fights Lewis/Gane winner end of yr or early 2022. Then it will be a matter of is situation with Jones resolved and ready to fight. If not Stipe gets his title shot

He said he's taking the summer off and bulking up. So far, he's taken the summer off and is looking thiccer.

He is fighting Jones in september for the legacy HW belt.
Then the interim HW champion and the legacy HW champion will have a unification fight for the ceremonial HW belt.

A rematch might not be on his best interest to be honest, now if he is going to ask for it then he should fight someone else first, Ngannou is basically booked for a while, even if he wants to sit out it will take some time, but he shouldnt be rewarded another title fight without fighting any contenders first.

Why would Stipe get another shot at a UFC title, or interim title?

The guy spent four years fighting two people, ruined the championship prospects of many in his division with his inactivity, and now he thinks he is going to get another shot at the belt?

The UFC does not owe Stipe anything, the guy is set for life, and at this point is purely self indulgent; he knows he is not the best fighter in the division or anywhere close.

Before Stipe fights for another title, he should beat at least four opponents; the same number of opponents Ngannou had to beat to get a rematch.

Stipe is 2-2 over the last three years, against two opponents, why anyone believes he should fight for another title is idiotic.

Stipes gonna lose sitting out, stipes going to lose coming back, everything for Stipe is a lose-lose situation at this point
