So today I noticed my dog is petrified of his dinner bowl if someone is holding it, I had put his dry food in the bowl and offered it to him to see if he would eat it, as I got closer to him he ran away and eventually ran out of the kitchen into the living room where his bed is, I put the bowl on his dog sofa and he turned away, as if he was scared and didn't want to see it.

So I took his bowl put his 'wet food' in, same again, as soon as I put it in his food bowl holder he was straight up to it eating it like he usually does.

Anyone know what's up with my dog?

He's a Labrador and about 12 in human years, would go toe to toe with any dog, he's harmless and you probably have more chance of being licked to death than bitten.

Is this a sudden thing or has he always done that?

I've never noticed it before, I think it was just a laugh and then he took it seriously, on a side note I know he doesn't like spoons so maybe it's silvery metal things he doesn't like

Yes dogs do this often I've seen it in the commercials. They usually lead their owner to the super market aisle where the dog instructs the owner to buy the advertised dog food.

Hope his helps

Maybe he fucked his mouth up on something in the dry food. Or he's just telling you to buy him better shit to eat.

Sherdog is full of dog experts. You can see proof during our monthly pitbull threads.

As far as your problem goes.. it's kind of weird if it's a new thing that just started. He's clearly associating the act of someone holding his dish with fear. Typically a sign that some sort of traumatic event happened.

I'd say your best course of action would be practice. Don't acknowledge his fear, just pick up and bring him his dish multiple times throughout the day. No "good dog" or anything, just repetition until he realizes there is nothing to fear. Praising him or coddling him could just help support his fears.

No but I did stay at a holiday inn express last night and my diagnosis is that your dog no longer wishes to identify as a male

Maybe your dog just wants to cut out the GMOs and go completely organic. I think he wants Blue Buffalo - Natural, Healthy Dog and Cat Food.

Could you feed him in a different bowl and/or maybe just not hold the bowl at all but just pour stuff into it?

Your dog is #TRIGGERED

sounds like he got his ass whooped by the bowl.

buy a plastic bowl repeat experiment. if continues pussy actions put a jummi stake in bowl see if his ass eats it.

change the bowl you are using and see what happens.

12 is pretty old for any pup. You might consider that he's getting a little senile. I've known dogs that would get weird as they got old and it was just old man dog stuff.

Did you drop something like that once that made a loud sound near the dog?

Does the dog se you prep the food? Do so out of his sight. More likely to take ownership.
Labrador's are submissive as fuck and won't touch anything they think belongs to their master.
