Hello, sorry if this is the wrong forum, I could not find one for tabletop games and such.
I never really had any exposure to Chess for most of my life, just played Checkers with my brother when we would go eat at Cracker Barrell haha. A few months ago, a friend of mine broke out an Chess old board of his and it has been a blast to get into and learn. I'm not anything special, my rating is probably a bit under 1000 since I am not terribly experienced, but I have not been able to find many people who are curious about Chess. I play just about every day, so if any of you would like to play a game, my username on lichess is Lindenroot.
Anyway, if you are into the game, when did you start playing? How skilled would you say you are and how did you learn? I'm thinking about getting some books to learn more about the game and joining a local club.
